Hey everyone,

Was looking at buying some high quality poker chips and stumbled across the site. Seems like this may be a useful place!

Welcome aboard! So tell us about yourself ... How often do you play poker, and what are you using right now? Are you looking for full-custom, clay, ceramic, re-labels, etc.

Interrogation by Dennis, be careful! LOL just kidding. Welcome to the Poker Chip Forum. :)

Thanks guys!

The answer to how often I play is: not enough. I mentioned in another thread last night as I was perusing some of the threads that I am about 1 month away from graduating with my PhD. It is busy, busy times. But I actually just won a $500 poker table top (from BBO poker tables) which arrives today. I might have to get a game together this weekend. I used to play pretty often when I lived in NJ--a couple times a month with some friends and on occasion live down in AC. But in FL, poker is essentially non-existent. Or at least it should be with the quality of poker room.

I am using the coveted dice chips. Sure they are not great, but they are cheap, and they keep track of money, so it works for me, for now. I like the clay casino style chips, though I can't recall having ever used ceramics, so I may or may not like those better. I have a feeling that I will always have an affinity for the clays though, in honor of my first time playing live poker in a casino. I am thinking about Pualsons, but I am not sure I can afford a decent enough number of them to make it worth it. But I may try to slowly build a set from decomissioned casino chips. Once I started skimming eBay for some ideas on chips and saw the awesome variety, I entertained the idea of having a set of different denominations and casinos. Certainly it might look a bit messy, but there are too many great looking chips for me to narrow it down (and if I build my set over time, I don't need to worry about not being able to find the right casino when I am ready to buy more).

LOL...thanks for the welcome and the heads up on Dennis!

I am also considering collecting some chips. Like I said, there are some really amazing looking chips, and I can definitely see the allure of just owning them, displaying them. I saw a few pics in another thread (though do not remember the name of the OP) with pictures of his collecting. He (or she) had a wood and glass display case built in to their wall. A couple of stacks of cash, a few canvas bags of chips and rack upon rack of awesome looking chips. They were perfectly aligned to make a pattern with the paint on the edge of the chips--it was a beautiful sight.
