Here we go... (2 Viewers)

Also, open to any suggestions for beginning chip sets. My group mainly plays cash games, so no need for large tournament sets.

Not too large. Only around 7 of us at a time, usually 6 unless someone brings their partner. Have been watching around 10 to 15 videos a day from @Hobbyphilic on his YT channel and decided to take the plunge!

welcome! i second what @Lemonzest said. if you hang around here, you’ll just end up looking for paulson chips anyway, so save your money and skip the china clay step ;)

I think Paulsons are a little high for what I'm willing to spend at the moment. Although I definitely think that's where I will end up in the future.

Pleased to meet you!

I agree with whats written above. I myself really always thought china clays were the way to go but I got my hands on some used casino Paulsons awhile ago. That being said, I still ordered some china clays to further reassure myself :D.

Nothing wrong with CC chips. I have many Paulson and custom sets, but still get my Milano’s in play once in a while as a traveling set.

I'm not in any hurry, so I may just keep an eye on classifieds and see what pops up. Really like the looks of the Paulson Elite

used paulsons, literally like playing in a casino.....just clean em, you don't want hooker juice on yo fingers!! save $$ and play with the best chips on the planet.
I showed my wife this and she about fell in the floor laughing, then proceeded to tell me that no matter what chips we buy she will be getting a cleaning kit lol

Just curious, what is the difference between a ceramic and a ceramic hybrid and why is the ceramic hybrid recommended in the same sentence as used casino chips? Are they comparable? What are some of your favorite ceramic hybrids?

A ceramic chip has graphics printed directly onto the faces and rolling edges.

A ceramic hybrid has graphics printed on an inlay, which is then stuck onto the surface of a ceramic chip, inside a recess specially made for said inlay. The chip material is otherwise the same as a ceramic chip.

Thanks for the answer. Anywhere I can get the hot stamped Starburst Paulsons? I think I'm in love with them haha

You're a week-and-a-half too late. I just sold a nice size cash set (600+ chips) to another new member. I'll probably re-load over time, lightning can always strike twice.

So my ceramic samples came in today

Very pleased. Don't think words can describe the difference between these and dice chips

Welcome aboard! You can always put up a wanted ad once you have enough posts if you really want starbursts. However get lots and lots of sample first anyway.

I have actually reached out to sun fly regarding customs for the hybrids. Think I'm either going that route or Paulson solids if I can find a relatively small cash set. Only need around 300 chips.

Paulsons are def the way to go IMO. If you shop around and take your time you can get them for around a buck a chip in used condition.

The Paulson Elites or Monaco chips are a great option if you want that brand new feel/look.

Only need around 300 chips.

In b4 the deluge of "that's not enough chips because more = better" ;)

But, there's some truth to that. Anticipate a bigger game or different stakes. There's something to be said about flexibility even if your current game isn't as big or cash-flush as it could be.

What game and stakes are you playing where you only need 300 chips? If you only need 300 then go with Paulsons. That will be much faster and easier. You can always sell them and get customs made later.

If anyone is interested I have over a full rack of these available in the classifieds for 90 plus shipping

mint paulsons for less than a buck each. Only drawback is the stamp "LND". You can also get these milled and labelled with the member here "Gear" aka Chris.
