So I was lucky enough to recently pick up the chips in the photo below from @JWC. I want to build a set around them.
My idea is to have a mixed mold (no mold duplicated) set, with all chips coming from the same era (1950s-1960s, ish), and none of the commonly collected molds (no RHC, THC, scrown, lcrown).

My question to the history buffs with more knowledge of older molds than I have (which isn't difficult, I have none) -- what molds should I be looking for? I'm ready to do a chip guide search/review, but would love some ideas of what molds to look for.

I'd love to find $1s and $5s in colors that work with these fracs -- perhaps all hotstamped. But what I'm really asking about is JUST the mold options out there.

Thoughts?

THANK YOU!

Hey Mel how do these chips handle? Had some hub molds at one point and they we’re anecdotally lighter than any CPC chip I’ve handled(meaning way too ligjt).

Was just curious if I had an unleaded color

I'll let you know in a few days. They haven't arrived yet!

I know. I'm trying to think of OTHER molds that would be era-appropriate and go well in a mixed set with these hub mold.
Like some tri-clubs that I've seen somewhere before!
I guess I need to read better.

Also... :whistling: :wtf:

My all-time favorite is the arodie (arrow and dice). It’s classic 50s and 60s.
The horseshoe mold is later, but still great.

The two on the left are arodie, the right is horseshoe:

I *LOVE* the arodie mold too. So classic. I doubt I could dumb-luck into an affordable bunch of those, but they would be PERFECT.
Adding to the tippy top of my want list.

Great info Oscar, thank you!
This will give me a place to start in my research!

The problem with most of these rare vintage molds is that there is so little out there in even single rack quantities. The mold common of which I've seen are Hub mold.

I once had a set of wave mold.

SMDH... the greatest mold of ALL Time, the ODD Horsey mold! HHL

But unfortunately the Forty Grands are the only heavy ones I know of, the rest are 8.5 - 9.

Score of a lifetime, my friend! You have so many sets that I envy...this one is top 3. It's incredible!

Jack Todd's radial diamonds are the best! I'm still hunting for a nice set of spotted diamonds to include in my set.
