Hello folks!

As anticipated in my introduction post I'd like to start a labeling project, but the set breakdown is causing me quite a headache.
I recently bought a set of plastic diamonds:

It's 400 chips, perfectly balanced: 50 chips for each color, 8 colors.

Here we come with the million dollar question... what's a good breakdown? I'd like to have a clear idea of a breakdown before going for labels design, etc.

Relevant information:

  • My first and only concern is playability, how many players involved is still unclear, as it depends on the final structure. My goal is comfortable for 14-15 players,
  • Would prefer cash game denoms as I already have tourney chips, microstakes with 5c as the lowest denom, with max stakes like 25c/25c. Say max total cash of the night would not go past 700/800€.
  • I will 100% use the chips also for occasional tourneys even though they have cash denoms (on different occasions of course). I'm saying this to clarify that we are open to the possibility of using one color for bounty chips. Also open to proposals for other type of non-value chips (like rabbit hunting chips & other not-so-serious stuff).
  • Definitely thinking of 1 or max 2 colors being non-denominated,
  • Yeah, versatility is also appreciated, I like sets that fit in many types of games and situations,
  • I'm familiar with the basics, like x4/x5 progression, etc.
  • I'm familiar with basic tourney and cash game breakdowns...when you have the right number of chips for each color lol,
  • I'm familiar with standard casino colors (5 = red, 25 = green, etc.) but here in EU we don't care that much,
  • Open to the possibility (blasphemy!?) of 2 similar colors (like blue-purple, red-pink) being the same denom,

  • I think I've read somewhere here on PCF that after being labeled, plastic diamonds have stackability issues... can confirm?
As you can see there are multiple combinations of variables that are good, how would you personally go?

Super curious of hearing from you!

50 chips, divided by 15 players, is 3 chips each with 5 left over. Each person gets 24 chips (8 clots x 3 each) with some left over. I’m not sure that’s going to work for you. It’s a lot of color, so maybe you could add more levels. .05, .10, .25, .50, 1, 2, 5, 10.

Without playing a few hands, I would expect a lot of change making, which would really slow things down. I’m not seeing how that set works- Try a few hands using a 25NL PAHWM and see how it goes.

If you were in the US, I’d ship you my “vintage” Super Diamonds set to get you going. Costs to Europe would be prohibitive.

8 colors 50 chips each doesn't really lead to any good breakdown structure especially for 10+ person tournament.

as far as labels for super diamonds, they don't work because no recess. super diamonds were my first chip and I did try labeling them. they don't stack right and the edges will start to fray
