Hi from Vancouver. Had a WPT set for about 10 years and suddenly the wife wants to play poker and suggested I buy a new set that's big enough for our friends to play as well (5-10 players). I'm honestly pretty happy with the WPT chips as I haven't played with anything better other than at the casino. I was looking at Monte Carlos / Showdowns as my next set. Planning to spend $100-300ish but it seems like you add a couple of zeros once you lurk on this forum for awhile... :ROFLMAO:

Welcome to the site! A lot of locals who can help. You are right though, it can be dangerous on the wallet.

Hello and welcome!!! I have a set of Monte Carlo's. It was my first upgrade from dice chips. They are OK but there are lots of better chips out there. You can get a nice set of Tina card molds from a group buy here on the site in the same price range. Or the sky is the limit if you want to spend more on really nice sets!!! I don't have the budget for the crazy nice sets yet. Maybe someday. But I will probably have to buy a large enough case for those chips that would also double as a new home for me after my wife would kick me out for spending that much!!!

Just one “0” would do it . Good luck with the hunt.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I'm curious to where Canadians purchase their chip samples? I was looking at Apache and it was about 40usd for shipping.

In my (biased) opinion, if you want to stick to a $300 budget (and by $300 I really mean $400 with shipping, tax, etc.), check out the cards mold/no mold group buys that happen regularly. You may even see a set come up on the classifieds that's already in Canada, eh.

For the record, I haven't handled ceramic chips for 10+ years and never handled cards molds, but these are great value. If I didn't have a budget for custom CPCs I would own a set of them 100%.

Maybe start with some samples @MichaelBubly has for sale:

You can set up an account at a mailbox company in Blaine or Sumas and ship them there for US shipping costs plus 4-5 dollars per shipment. Also works great for Amazon.com shipping, which is usually free within the US but 10-30 dollars to ship to Canada (if they even will ship internationally).

Hello and welcome! It seems like you mastered the first step... getting your wife to buy in to getting new chips.

I can't message you yet. But I do have the main samples from Apache in Vancouver. If you are interested let me know!
