Hello, I've always been a poker hobbyist, but got out of it for a while, (bad times after the economy collapsed) Been working at the casino here in Maine for a while now, started training to be a poker dealer, and fell in love with the game and all things poker related all over again.

I'm now ordering samples and trying to pick out chips for my first good set of chips. Think I want to build a good low stakes cash set first.

Anyway nice to meet you all.

Welcome! A couple of comments

"...for my first good set of chips." Yeah, you likely have no idea how right you are when you say "first" here. If you're like us, it won't be the last. Enjoy the process, and enjoy the chips!

Also, as for your first set, you might consider a tournament set. If you consider nickles and quarters low stakes, then start with the 5 and go 5/25/100/500 (and maybe a 1k chip as well) so your 5s can double as nickles, 25's as quarters, etc. If you consider .25/.50 or .50/1 to be low stakes, then start your tournament denoms at 25. This would give you a good, flexible starter set for cash or tournament play.

Again, welcome!

Welcome to PCF, open your wallet and say good bye to your money.......But CHIPS are sooooo worth it....

Samples are the way to go, you need to feel them to really know what you like, most of US started out with cheap dice or 13.5g to 14g weighted chips, then went to china clay, then used casino chips (when available) then we get more, then we see people getting MINT casino chips, then the ultimate CUSTOM CPC chips......and this is how you go down the rabbit hole..

Welcome! Sounds like off to a good start getting samples.

Welcome aboard! If you like, send me your address and I'll be happy to send you an assortment of some popular sets including the CPS chips.

Thanks for the great welcome everyone!

just a bit of news for all you casino chip hunters, I work at hollywood casino bangor maine. Anyway they just announced that penn national (owner of hollywood brand) is buying the tropicana casino on the strip. I don't know if they plan on re-branding it but if so there may be some chips coming to market...

Welcome to the madness. You are doomed. [emoji12]

Unfortunately, the Nevada Gaming Commission requires that all obsolete chips must be destroyed.

Just got the chips you sent today, Wow that's quite the welcome package!! Thanks a lot. I'm going to try and post some pics and thoughts on some of the samples later tonight.

I hope that in a year or two of collecting I'm in a position to pay it forward. Thanks again!

You now know one of PCF's worst kept secrets: PAZ is the man! Super generous guy, and a pleasure to see at the meat-ups (not to mention his crack cinnamon bread).
