I think I have fallen into a rabbit hole :)

This all started when my basement was completed and I bought a cheap poker table for neighborhood cash games. Since I have room to host now I want to get a set of chips.

The journey so far:

- Looked at local CL, which mostly have used dice chips for sale. Almost got a set and luckily (?) someone bought it before me.
- Checked discount poker, decided on some 13.5 g 500 ct Ace-King set.
- Realized the same sets are cheaper from Amazon so ordered one set there. The quality was really bad (smear paint, bad markings, etc.) Ended up returning and not wanting to get dice chips.
- Saw in Amazon that the 500 ct 13.5g Crown Casino had very good reviews. I checked HobbyPhilic's review in youtube and decided to get them (Also learned about this site from him.)
- Google Express sent me 15% off coupon and I checked that they had those chips from Wayfair and I ordered on 8/29 and they are supposed to arrived today.
- I didn't receive any tracking number, etc and Wayfair ended up cancelling my order. I guess they don't want to sell them for 15% off since they are listed as in-stock on their site.
- While waiting, I kept reading more reviews.... and now I am thinking about China Clays. And now I kind of want to get the Milanos.... so I can get one decent set and not have to worry for a long time.

So that is how I end up creating an account and introducing myself here. I guess my questions are, should I go with the Milanos or the ABS like the crown casino for my first set? Apache is out of stock but Claysmith's site has sets available. Also is pokerchipmania legit since they are like 15% cheaper than Claysmith. Also a store in Ohio call Koma product has them as well (free shipping.)

Thank you for reading this far.

Also in maryland, carrol county... many members in your vicinity... I own oh a few thousand of the JPC crown chips you are speaking of. Not a fan of claysmiths, we have samples of those as well, edges are very rough... the Crown chips are the same as the 08 series casino royale which is actually what I am building but have to re- label some of those crowns...dont get drawn in by the flashy gold glitter around the inlays on the crown chips it wears off pretty quickly! We have tons and tons of samples of you ever just want to compare different chips available, we do not have millanos though just about everything else though. Ceramic, China clay! Lots of options and everyone has different taste sir! Fellow chipper Ben I think you're going to like it here!!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I request a Milano and some Mint from Claysmith's free sample offer. Should receive in a week.

Aside from the gold glitter wearing out, how is crown casino chip in general?

Welcome! Finksburg, MD in Carroll county, not far from ya!
You have definitely reached destination rabbit hole! :ROFLMAO:
I'm sure others have contributed this advice but definitely get samples before purchasing a full set, you'll be able to handle them a bit and see how you like them before committing to an entire set. CC and ABS chips are solid chips for the price you pay (no chip is perfect, not even Paulson's sometimes!) But for their price they are efficient and serve their purpose. @Ben8257 and I have some of the monte Carlos we recently started using for games, I like them just fine. Wishing you the best of luck on your journey, hoping you stick around for awhile!!
Cheers, Brie

Hello and welcome!

Do more research and I guarantee you'll be contemplating much more expensive chips. Beware!

Uh-Oh. This is exactly what is happening. The more you read .,..

In a way, it is good that this site is blocked from work.

Welcome. I’m in Ellicott City, but right next to Elkridge. 100&103. Do you prefer tournaments or cash games? I’ve a game this weekend, if interested send me a PM. It might send you way down the rabbit hole though. :)

Oh that is nice. It is good to know there are games around. I am off landing road :) Right now I just play neighborhood games. We play small tournament games once every other months. I guess we are very casual.

Yeah, I’m off of Landing/Ilchester. You are always welcome. We play monthly tournaments as well.
