Hiya guys, hello from the Netherlands/Holland/Not Amsterdam. Pokerboom is pretty much dead here but I can't keep my eyes off these chippy gems, even though I can't find enough people to play with in a homegame (and thus can't convince myself yet that buying a great set is something I should afford myself).

Used to have a Casino Royale James Bond set which I was pretty damn happy with. Got "lost" (no idea how) and havn't had a set since (and have sadly only played like 5 live games since). Was always looking at a THC/WPS or even noir set when they were still commercially available, but never pulled the trigger (as I'm sure many of you guys have regretted). I do have sample sets of both THC and WHC which I'm already pretty stoked about though.

Now potentially looking to buy a ~500 chip set (maybe?), but as I said, not really sure if I can justify the expenses if I never use them.

Anyways, any pointer towards good European sellers (for china clays, ceramics maybe) would be appreciated, because import taxes suck, the commercial market seems very slim in EU, and my google is worn out. The classifieds have had some EU deals but none I have jumped on yet. Figured after lurking for a while I'd make an account so I have one less thing blocking me from buying if the opportunity presents itself.

Welcome!! If you aren't successful through Europe theres several great members here who can help with shipping!

Excellent taste in chips! ;) cheers!

Best of luck! You’ll find quite a few people here who have or purchase chips in the “build it and they will come” train of thought, hoping to get a regular game going.

Are you looking for cash or tourney set? What price range are you comfortable with?

Thanks all!

The games I play are mostly cash game, though most of the time when we have played with denominated chips they weren't 1:1 applicable to our game anyways (I wish) so I'm not bound to "they have to have (specific) cash denoms" or anything like that.

I would definitely be comfortable with buying a 200 euro-ish set just to have a nice set laying around for the occasional game. But on the other hand, as said, I'm not playing many games anyways, so I mostly just want chips as a collector/for looking at them/for being pleased with myself for having cool chips. And at that point, I could afford (a lot) more, but it'd have to be a pretty optimal set.

As an example, a gorgeous ~700 euro paulson set would def be an option. And I've also made some quick CPC mock ups and might just go for a total custom set when push comes to shove..

Welcome. Sounds like you are headed in the right (albeit expensive) direction. I've only been to Amsterdam but loved it. Hope to go back with the family one day.

Most people here never use (most of) their chips   They basically acquire them for aesthetic and psychological reasons:)
Welcome to the forum and be careful with your wallet:D

Greetings from Eindhoven! Leave while you still can, things escalated real quick for me after spending some time on here...

thanks all for the warm welcome.

Greetings! Have you tried hypnosis to find out what happened to your chips?

I actually feel more like i should use some more persuasive interrogetion tactics on some people. These are the kind of people who I asked to have a good look if they maybe have it (sometimes left it at friends if they wanted to continue the game) but am pretty sure they didn't spend more than half a minute actually trying to find it. Anyways, own fault in the end then.

Mostly cash, but honestly I havn't got any real specific wish and a nice tournament set would be fine as well, explained it a bit few posts up.

Was eyeballing that horseshoe set of yours. Not quite the one I think but pretty close.

Ah yes, colors are not flashy. Very traditional and not in the taste of everyone. However it covers NL25, NL50 and NL100. So pretty funxtional.

Hope you will find what you want !

I actually love the traditional aspect (though I'm not saying I would never buy a more "modern" set). I would say the thing that irks me most is the faux-shaped-inlays - and that's me being nitpicky - but if I'm gonna spend this amount of money they better be (close to) perfect. Still, you've done everything right in my book to make this set about the best it can be (fracs are great), so props for that man.
