Years ago I bought Paulson chips for my home tournaments. Recently I went looking to see if I could add to them only to find out they no longer make them and purchasing more is only available on the second hand market. Looking to see what could be purchased now has ultimately lead me here to PCF. Hopefully I will be able to get involved in a group purchase in the near future.

Hello and welcome!

Feel free to post a pic of your Paulsons so we can identify the chip series, then we can give you a good ballpark for the current valuation and availability. However, be prepared for sticker shock.

So I actually mixed different sets. It was a long time ago, and since the pips matched, I liked the idea of having different faces. The 5k's are all the same, but the others are mixed. And I did see some of the crazy prices for them on eBay.

I should mention that I've collected poker chips for a very long time. I basically ask the cage of every casino I've ever gone to for a brand new $1 & $5. I probably have a couple hundred chips like that from places I've visited. I'm attaching a couple of photos of what is by my desk. I'll try and dig them all out get photos of all of them at some point.

Yup, you've got a mix of Paulson fantasy lines here. Pharaohs, Classics, CDI05, and WTHC (the 5Ks). Average price on the low end is $4 per chip assuming Ex+ condition, some of the 1K and 5K chips might get a bit more. Certainly there are afficionados for all these chips here!

Thanks. I think they are in decent condition but dirty. I may need to learn a bit about grading chips. However, I can be bit of a hoarder and may just keep them. On the collectibles side, are there companies that grade chips like there are for baseball cards, comics, etc?

Not sure. But don't worry, we can tell. It's almost all in the edges, because that's where the wear from play over time really shows up. Flea bites and squareness/roundness/ability to stand on edge are the rough key indicators. Sometimes stack heights.
