Hello,

I have had my plastic dice chips for over 15 years and hosted 1 game in that time (lack of people who want to play) yet i want to upgrade to some nicer chips. So after doing 2 weeks of reading figured may as well join.

Being from Australia our options are very limited and the current exchange rate sucks for us at the moment.

Good to see another Perthy, guess you feeling same struggle, where you can only get "premium clays" which are metal slugged clays, or ceramics for triple the price! I do like like the look of ceramics but damn they are expenaive here.

Im not sure ive even been to the crown think it was still burswood last time i was there haha. Been mostly playing PokerStars VR. But with a new born and quarantine i been spending a lot of time shuffling these terrible plastic chips haha.

If you think prices are expensive in Australia, just wait till you get sucked deeper into the hobby.

I've spent a fortune on shipping over the years.

Welcome mate, let me know if you want a couple of sample chips, (only got clay) to help you jump down the rabbit-hole.
Definitely keen on sample chips, read so much and watched the youtube vids of comparisons but without touching them hard to know if i should spend $150 or $600.

These are the kits im currently looking at.

https://pokershop.com.au/collections/poker-chip-sets/products/leroyale14g

Both sets are metal slugs clays so i assume theyd be similar to the monte carlos that get reviewed often.

Thats kind of why ive written off the asconas and valentinos. They seem nice but can to justify such a mark up locally compared to the us. Almost 200%.

Hello and welcome!

There are chips for every budget. The name of the game is not only to get the best quality at the best price, but to get the set that you like best in quantities that work the best for you and your game.

If you're looking to try your luck at hosting again, build it, and they will come (eventually). Just don't blame us if/when your initial budget to spend $150 or $600 balloons into 2-3 thousand+.

Hahaha I'm the same.

In that case, hold off. Get some samples and accept that your set is going to cost you anywhere between $1- $5 a chip aud.

I like to host $10 or $20 cash games, but unfortunately i mostly play mostly online (gambling online is illegal in Australia) so mostly just for the fun.

Our dollar has actually improved a smidgen lately but its still bad, has been for a while now.
Like the good folk are saying and i guess you probably already know get samples, i was like you thinking the heavier chip will feel better but thats not the case.
I've stuck with a couple of Paulsons sets that i've pieced together over a few years (leaded and unleaded) prefer the leaded variety myself, but will come down to what you want spend and what you want.

Like i said i've stuck with Paulsons....but i know like the sky is blue that if i get a sniff of some casino leaded TRK's i'm gonna fall down another hole, they're another story.

Hit me up with a pm on the samples....if you dare :cool

The issue with paulsons is getting a full set. Judging by how much use my current set has I think id rather just buy new and have a complete undamaged set.
