Hi,

I am new to the forums and recently started researching poker chips. Happy to see that PCF seems to be the place for all the details. Upon initial research, I am looking to get into Boom Town and President Casino on the Admiral. Happy for any feedback and to hear frok anybody that has overflow or sets they're getting rid of!

I also am interested in your location. I'm from Burlington, IA.

Welcome! Where at in IL?
I am located in Bloomington/Normal. We have a regular monthly tournament played with Majestic chips. I started asking questions, which led me here! What's your prized set?!

Bloomington/Normal... I've been over to Burlington a time or two for concerts!

Hello and welcome!

PCA sets do come up from time to time. I've never heard of/seen a full Boomtown *set* - lower denom barrels and racks, maybe.

I will have to keep my eye out and try to piece together some of the Boomtown chips. I saw some listed out in classifieds that were spoken for. I am going to try grabbing a sample set from the seller as soon as I am able to enter into the classified arena :)

I grew up in Peoria, still have family and friends in the area so I find myself back there every once in a while.

Prized set...my customs. But I'm always tempted to get a Par-a-dice tournament set for nostalgia reasons!

ahhhh yes Peoria is a quick 45 minute trip up ol 74! I also have family in Peoria and was over there a lot in my younger years for soccer tournaments. My mother lives outside of Peoria in the country area outside of Canton. I know a few Caterpillar workers as well. Small world, I also would pounce on a Par A Dice set if I saw it come up. I've heard those are fairly prevalent and thought they would be a great local chip!

Welcome to the crew!

I’ve been thinking about -no- drooling over PCAs since I joined. Good taste. (y)

Thanks Ethan! Hopefully I can make a set, the colors intrigue me a lot! I've seen a lot of your posts when I was just being a leechy, non-member of the forums. Mind detailing any sets you are currently working on?

Sure, at this point my WTHC set is slllowwwly coming along. I plan to mill the Private Cardroom hotstamps and relabel them as WTHC quarters (with @Gear labels). I think with another rack of 1s I’ll have a set big enough to cover our .25/.25 games.

The more important set at the moment is for my fiancé as a wedding gift. I just bought a drill press and will start milling the hotstamps down this week. I’ve got a couple of racks in the mail and almost have enough chips to get a good breakdown. Label design is looming but I have a handful of ideas, some inspiration from a few awesome members, and a few designers on PCF in mind (that do incredible work). The colors are centered around our wedding theme.

Lastly, and least pressing, is a homage to my original poker crew with the recent scrolls 8v blowout. Who can resist China clays at 0.10 / pop? Here is the set but I haven’t put too much thought into it other than planning the breakdown.

The rest of my chips, other than the 1,600+ horseshoe Cincinnati and Cleveland cash set(s) where I need a rack of cincy 2s, are either excess, complete, or samples. Enjoy the pr0n! ;)

That's a heckuva stash! Well I've got a set of PCA secondaries on their way. Didn't take long to start dropping the cash around here :). Can't wait to see the milling on your chips. That's real cool that you're throwing wedding colors into the mix!

Milling your own chips? Awesome. Congrats on the wedding!

Thanks! Yeah I wouldn’t dare try it without all the resources here. Asking for help and using the search function is your friend around here.

Feels like I've been on here more than 16 days... The treasure keeps showing up in the mail...

I have hopes of adding Empress Joliet and Eldorado Club to the mix. I have some starters to those sets on the way now. Also looking for higher denomination barrels of PCA primary/secondary and Horseshoe Cincinnati.
