I've been reading these forums for a while, and they have been very helpful.

I'm a board gamer (particularly an 18xx/Civilization/Titan aficionado) currently using some dice chips (five colors 1, 5, 25, 100, 500) with 3/4" white labels (bought from an office supply store) and ink-stamped denominations. One of the other players has a definitely nicer set from Claysmith's Mint collection, and being a status-seeking ape, I've decide to get something even better. I'm looking at buying 500 Bank chips from Apache (I love the mold) and I have sample of them, as well as the Majestics, with the BP Pro Greek Triangles on the way.

My ideal set would be:
50 x 1
50 x 2
25 x 5
50 x 10
50 x 20
25 x 50
50 x 100
50 x 200
25 x 500
50 x 1000
50 x 2000
25 x 5000

Of course, that's 12 colors, and these sets only have 11, 10, and 10 respectively. I'll be posting about my attempts work that out.

Welcome!

This seems like a lot of denominations... do you really need values separated by factors of 2?

The idea is to support multiple entities with a small set. A typical 18xx bank is $12000. With:

50x1
25x2
24x5
50x10
24x20
24x50
28x100
24x200

that's 269 chips, and can support up to 24 different entities with $499 each (8-player 1862EA could easily have 16 companies on the table at once). Some games get *very* large (18C2C has 32 companies and up to 6 players).

I have seen 18xx mentioned before but have no idea what the hell it is.

if you want that kind of breakdown maybe have some custom ceramics made, not sure aniother way you will find that many different colors in a single set.

that od mix multiple set togther, might have to repeat some colors with different edge spots

There's a video in this forum.

Possibly. I have a couple of different thoughts in my head. I will likely buy a custom CPC set 6-10 years down the road, but for now, I need to spend a little less than that.

Hello and welcome! I've also always wondered what 18xx was all about so thanks for the link!
