I’m brand new to the world of poker chips, my set is 1000 Milano I use for my home games, I’m planning on turning 200 .50 chips into .05 chips by peeling the stickers off and orderIng some new labels. For the record, I am astonished at the cost of paulsons! LOL will not likely be building a large set of those any time soon but I love reading about your collections on the site! :)

Hi and welcome

I don't know what micro stakes do you play or if you have too many 50¢ but have you considered to have blank Milanos and label them instead ?
It's a breakdown 5¢ 25¢ $1 more useful than 5¢ 25¢ 50¢ ?

Hello and welcome!

Paulsons don't have to be expensive, but you have to know what you want (or will settle for on your budget). Keep your eyes and ears open, good deals can present themselves anytime.

Welcome! I’m with you on the cost of paulsons but the more I look at this site the more I want a set. :banghead:

Hey new member, I did the same thing when I first started purchasing chips. went from the cheapy inserts with the dices around the edge, to CC CPS chips, to neveda jacks ceramics, and now cheaper paulson chips. I feel like i cant go back to purchasing anything of lesser quality than paulsons now. And yes it is very addicting collecting various chips. PNY are probably my favorite at the moment. Keep stacking them chips buddy.

The blank Milano choice that's available is an ugly blue I like the look of the gray. I'm hoping to host 0.05/0.10 as there's a mix of people new to poker and others who are experienced and frequent the casino from time to time. Hoping it's palatable for everyone. I am learning how all of this works so if there are suggestions you have about chip breakdown I would be open to any ideas. :)

Welcome fellow new member... let the poker chip venom sink in and take over your bank account with ease :)

Hello!

Welcome, nice to see another neighbor here on the forum. Where in Rochester do you live? Im in Webster.

Do you ever go play at Del Lago?

Not yet, I have friends who have gone - they tell me the 1/2 table buy in is largest stack at the table so people sit down with huge amounts and push everyone around - I haven’t had a chance to scrape together 200-300 to go and lately I’ve been dumping $ into my chipset and soon will be dumping it into building a poker table. You?

I try to get up there once a week or so.

It is a buy up to full stack room, but most people buy in for the 200-400 range. The games are a bit crazy but good.

Thursdays they have a 12K guarantee tourney that is $130, it is one of the craziest games you can ever buy into.

I’ve always wanted to go to the casino - gotta start saving a bankroll. First things first I need a table for my home games, tho.

Round or oval? I have both and willing to part with either, they are not great but cheaper than new. Funny I own three table and not one is at my house.

Oval, I have a six foot table I was considering overlaying with plywood and padding and whatnot - I know very little about it but I’ve seen a little on the internet that you can build your own so that was my plan.

Welcome! I'm also in Rochester.

I recently built a table and was surprised at how easy it was. You can knock it out in one day if you don't include a racetrack that you have to stain. I haven't built legs yet, but it rests nicely on top of my 6ft folding table no problem.

If you haven't acquired or built a table yet I'd suggest http://www.buildyourownpokertables.com . Their designs were easy to follow and you can order all the rail fabric, foam and speedcloth you need for the project. I only purchased the speedcloth thinking I could find the foam and fabric locally, but I ended up spending a little more and the foam was not the right size. I had to adjust my plans making my racetrack slightly larger which I regret.

Thank you!! I was thinking of getting the customized table top the vendor sells on this site for about $200 because that would just be dope.

This is seriously the most expensive hobby we all could have adopted next to collecting private jets.

Lol, seriously it's amazing how quickly it happens too. I started about 2 months ago, bought one set to upgrade from dice chips and thought I'd be good. Then I bought another set for cash games. Then bought a few more racks to add to both of those sets. This week I just purchased more from Apache to sample ( about 150 chips ). And now I'm working on three custom ceramic sets, two as gifts and one for myself. It's crazy.

Welcome. Take your time and look for deals. They are out there. You can build a nice clay set for around $1/chip.
