HDK, aka...the myth. (1 Viewer)

First time I bet @bergs I was like, "You're HDK, right?" and he said, "No, HDK is a mutant, so don't get upset when you see him." Then he pulled his shirt up to reveal...

I had a two-table $50 bounty tourney at my house a few years ago. Wide range of players, some from my regular home game, who are pretty nitty compared to the MA/NH group, a few local guys who rarely played poker and for whom playing in a $50 tournament was a REALLY BIG DEAL, a couple of the MA/NH crowd, including (I think) @JoseRijo, @iBetOnEverything and one or two others I'm sure I'm forgetting. Well @bergs and HDK waltz in about three minutes before the tournament is set to begin, and immediately Bergs says "HDK, wanna flip for the tourney entry?" the local guys just stand there, jaws on the ground, as they deal out a PLO hand and the loser pays the other guy's entry. None of them could believe what had just happened. It's one of my top-10 favorite poker memories. I think if I brought one of them to BBotB their heads might explode.

Wasn't he on the S@P list before, too? Dude is the meetup equivalent of Sasquatch. People have allegedly seen him, but no proof.

My first meat-up ever was at berg's condo. I parked down the street, nervously found the place and knocked. Walked in and sat, they were playing holdem. I was dealt AA first hand and stacked a guy who was allegedly HDK. He wasn't happy, and I felt embraced by all. :whistling:

Fast forward to a DCS and HDK reportedly flew into Cincy with berg. HDK never showed all weekend, although I saw a pic of him face-down on carpet. Looked like the same guy but who really knows.

I remember the day I met him. It was in bergs basement. I asked where he got his moniker, was it from eating hot dogs or working in the hot dog industry. His reply? "Do I look like Abe Froman?"

Socks flew down with me and him to Cincie. He never made it out of Cincie down to Louisville due to extreme intoxication.

Who's got the pic of him in Vegas drinking out of the Eiffel Tower yard glass?

Spent about 10 minutes looking through my email for it, but no luck.

Looking through the old degen threads, though, I found a couple things, including a shot of the now never seen Truman's House nickels and a few early Berg-created MS Paints and a shot of Truman himself.

HDK is actually a crossfit maniac. He can lift several very heavy things. It's quite impressive. Jose could beat him handily in a foot race though.

Peter's a great guy. Once at the original Truman's House we had a 'Jason the meat guy' BBQ before the tourney. HDK came in from eating outside, walked into the kitchen and took a few hot dogs out of Berg's hot dog machine. Marsha just looked at him like she couldn't believe anyone could still be hungry and he said, "What? I am the Hot Dog King after all."

HDK is awesome.

I've played the Truman's nickels 3 times. We've had some deep .05/.10 games when bankrolls were thin. Of course these were NE style .05/.10 where the big winners were +600-800.

We used to use them when I'd show up an hour before everyone else and we'd play 0.5/.10 heads up, $20 buy-in.
