Is it possible to harvest the real WSOP chips? Got a buddy going out there next week and was curious if he could pull it off and get me a chip or two.

Anyone ever try it?

I remember reading that if they catch you that you basically get banned for life from their events.

Considering I'll never have the money to play any of them I would happily take that risk if it was me going out there lol

Edit: I saw it's your buddy playing.

I dont know how you would harvest any without playing.

But others are right, ive read penalties can be harsh for pocketing tourney chips. It's to protect against unlawful players combining chip stacks off the table. And against potential chip counterfeiting.

It would be pretty hard to get caught, palming a single 25 of the top of your stack, for a souvenir. But even that is scary if the consequence is a lifetime ban.

So was out there a couple weeks back and one of our group was still in the seniors tournament. I was out, so was playing a deepstack, but four or five of our group was over at the rail watching her. Out of the blue, no one saw from where, a T5000 chip rolled away from the tables and fell over at their feet, on the little post that holds up the tape. They looked at and waited for a player to say something. No one said anything for five minutes. No one! So one if them bent down and picked it up. Nobody said anything to them.

So the next floor guy that came around they gave it to them and explained. The floor guy just put it in his pocket and said he'd take care of it.

I was floored when I heard this. A T5000! I'd just walked right out of there with it.

I think it is way more common than people think. 200 floor people vs. 6700 players another 500ish spectators walking around. Day 1 is a zoo, you could probably walk out with a table without incident.

I found this on the floor when walking out of the Brazilia room  :whistling:

Harvesting WSOP chips might earn you a lifetime ban from the casino.

Speaking of bans, has Phil Ivey played in any WSOP events this year? He won millions in two card-edge tracking sessions in Atlantic City and London. If he hasn't, it might be that he has been banned because of this.

I think the British suit is still in litigation. I don't recall seeing his name in any 2017 WSOP events yet. Has Rio banned him or are the events too small for him and is he waiting for the Main Event? :)

Ivey was ordered to pay back the 10 million he won at Borgata. Typical Jersey state court. Can't stand to lose money. Even though 10 million cam be about 1/2 of what Borgata makes in a month. To lose that much could cripple their monthly numbers.

It's been years, but I think I read a post once where a guy bought into a tournament, then on his way to his table he just left, with his chips.

That is badass. If one could do it, I'd say go for it.

I would take the risk. Considering I would never be able to afford to play more than one tournament I would certainly give it a shot if I could try to swipe a chip or two off a stack.
