Daughter has a gymnastics meet this weekend and we will be there Satuday/Sunday.

I will assume it sucks until somebody can tell me otherwise! I kid, but I am looking for what MUST be done for first timers to the Nittany Lion's den. I hear the Creamery is a must do. What else? Any hiking close by? Where's dinner?

(no poker or bar hopping, will be with wife and daughter)

@MikesDad you went here, correct?

My daughter and I both attended PSU.

The Creamery (on campus) is an absolute must...best ice cream ever. You can take some home as well... they sell insulated
bags and dry ice. This is where Ben and Jerry learned to make ice cream.

For breakfast, The Original Waffle Shop on N. Atherton is a definite stop every time we go up for a football game.
There's an "imposter" Waffle Shop on College Ave that works too, but it's not the original.

For sit down dinner try The Tavern or The Corner Room, downtown on College Ave, just off campus.
Lots of the usual pizza, bar foody type places downtown as well on College Ave.

Outside of town is https://www.ottos-barrel.com/, also on N. Atherton Street.
N. Atherton has several of the usual chain restaurants as well.
If you are driving up via the western route (recommended -- I270 - I70 [Fredrick]- I76 [pa turnpike] - I99.) you can take the N. Atherton street
exit to get to town and campus and you'll see lots of these places

Hiking -- A right of passage for students is to hike up Mt. Nittany. Here are a couple of links

I'll ask my daughter if there's anything else to recommend when she gets home from school
Have a great time

Not far from the iconic Port Royale Speedway if you want to take in some quality red neck dirt racing events Chris! Lol

That's about all I know about the Middle of Pa! Oh and never try to go up there ON football game day. The Highway becomes a giant parking lot and they tailgate in the dang road!

Hope you have an awesome trip brother!

I only go on football days
The key is to arrive several hours before game time, make it to the parking lot and have a great time at the game

If you drive through NoVa stop somewhere for some Korean BBQ. Maybe Kogiya in Annandale? Should kind of be on the way

Daughter reminded me of
Cozy Thai if you like Thai food
Baby's is an old 50s style diner with burgers, fries, shakes etc... really good stuff
She also reminded me that the Original waffle shop is the ONLY choice for breakfast
