First of all, I want to wish each and everyone of you a Happy, Safe and Prosperous New Year! It has been another great year with all of you out there and I look forward to 2017. The meet up schedule for 2017 looks pretty full and I will be attending several and then co-hosting the All In at the Alamo. If you have not attended a meet up you need to plan tho make one this year. You will meet many great chippers who are also great people that you will be proud to call friends and family.

So New Year's has always been kind of bittersweet for me and my family having lost and older brother who was the first traffic fatality many years ago when I was 14. We do celebrate but always do it at home with all of the family present.

So how are we celebrating? We are having immediate family over and having snacks for dinner. It is something we have always done for many years. We always have my famous Southern Style Black-Eyed Peas, Both Meatballs and Little Smokies in a Chili Sauce/Grape Jelly sauce, Chips and Queso and we will also have some Tamales this year. I may have to get a veggie in there somewhere! At midnight we always toast with champagne and each eat a spoonful of Black Eyed peas to kick-start the Good Luck. Karma and Rungood for the year

Anyway I would love to hear what traditions or "We always do this" stories on how you celebrate the New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR to each of my friends. Please be safe and drink responsibly!!!

We almost always stay home and have a quiet* evening with the kids (* well, as quiet as you get with 7 & 10 year old boys :D). The evening consists of several rounds of hors d'oeuvres for dinner (mini hot dogs, mozzarella sticks, popcorn chicken, pizza rolls, etc.) followed by some board games. Around ~9pm we pop in one of the new movies the boys got for Christmas (we're a big movie family - this year will probably be Captain America Civil War). Anyone still up around midnight with me will watch the ball drop on Dick Clark's new year's show and then crash on the couch. Have stuck with this plan most of my life - I think I've done 3 or 4 parties during my high school / college years, but I prefer a nice quiet night with those closest to me. Keeps me off the road and safe from the crazies too ;)

A very happy & safe new year's to everyone here at PCF!

At my in laws celebrating Christmas today with her family. Going to put the little man down to bed early (no nap day) and probably not doing much. (n)

I'm home in bed with one of the colds evar. Chicken soup, lots of fluids, and a Starbuck's Cranberry Bliss Bar from the freezer.

Happy New Year, everybody!

The normal Saturday poker game was moved to last night. Mixed games, $1 to $4 spread limit with all the one dollar chips in the orphanage in play (which took a bit of effort to sort out after the game was over.) First time on the felt for 600 of them.

New Year's eve is an early dinner, a nap then Champaign and strawberries while we wait for the ball drop.

New Year's day we have friends and family over for black eyed peas, roast beef hash and the rest pot luck.

Please don't drink and drive tonight -=- DrStrange

For the first time, both of my kids are gone and we're empty nesters! Mrs. Jeff and I are having my wife's best friend and her husband over for sushi, drinks and games (Liar's Dice, Mexican Dominos and Golf...a card game to use multiple decks from my stash downstairs). Gonna make a hella good manhattan, with some interesting fixin's, palomas, champagne, martinis, etc...

Watching the CFP games right now.
Since we got married, my wife and I have stayed home for New Year's. We make lots of appetizers, and watch movies. We'll pop some champagne at midnight, and maybe watch one more movie, before heading to bed. If I get my way, tonight we'll start with this movie;

Staying home with the wife and kids. Let the kids watch some kids countdowns on Netflix then have some champagne and chocolate with my wife. I'll be surprised if we even make it to Midnight.

This sounds like fun!

Congrats on being an empty nester. My daughter finished up her associates in a year and a half and will be moving out on January 7th to attend school elsewhere. I am happy but sad as well. My baby is leaving and I will soon be empty as well.

I think we are leaving her bedroom alone so I guess the upstairs Man Cave does not get an additional room!

Same to you David! And to all the great folk of PCF!

Spending the holidays here in Florida... We'll have a big party at my in-laws with a bunch of family and friends... Lots of food, booze and music... I'll be holding Bubbles tightly around midnight since she's scared shitless of fireworks and there will be a bunch around us...

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of y'all!

Happy New Year Paulo !!

You should ask your vet - there are some new meds available for thunderstorm and firework phobias

We usually have a party. A few years ago we had a speakeasy party. Lights were off in front of the house, everyone had to enter through the back. Guys wore suits and fedoras while gals were dressed like flappers. 20's music roaring all night, roulette and cards, and of course: booze! Best party ever

This year we are doing absolutely nothing. So bored!!!
