Gutter De-Icing Cable - Thoughts/Advice? (1 Viewer)

Anyone ever use one of these to try and mitigate ice dams from forming in your gutter?

Have you had any success?

Any thoughts/advice for a newbie?

Have used something similar to keep the water pipes from freezing. Worked well for that, but if you run it 7/24, watch your electric bill go up a lot!

Thanks for the tip... gonna slap it on a wifi outlet so I can control remotely as needed!

Took the last of mine down this past spring, along with the gutters. Huge impact on the electric bill and if used only sporadically ice would build up in the gutters that the tape could never overcome. Luckily water sheds naturally away from my foundation, so no issue losing the gutters.

I'd taken a couple down last fall and diligently raked the snow on those areas after each snow. No dams formed there.

Move to someplace warmer where water only freezes when and where you want it to.
