i'll post better pictures in a while, and pictures of the rest of the set, but I have to get dinner going. I just couldn't wait though, cause I've been waiting to post this for a while.

A lot of time and money went into this rack. I was told it couldn't be done, but I did it in 10 months time, with a lot of help from this community. So much help in fact that I kinda feel like it partly belongs to the community.
I first saw these chips in this thread https://www.pokerchipforum.com/posts/264261/ in October of last year. I immediately jumped on eBay and paid $6 shipped for one of them. I couple of days later, I got 3 of them shipped for $9, also on eBay, and I thought it might be easy. Not so.
I got these 100 chips through a total of 37 transactions. But the quest almost became impossible. Sometime in February I think, somebody else started bidding aggressively on these, on eBay. Somebody with very deep pockets. I've bid him up, mostly for spite, to over $25 a chip (including shipping.) I've only beaten him once - that was on a lot that included 3 of these chips - I got mad and paid over $100 for them. I sold off the rest of the lot, but those 3 chips ended up being stupid expensive.

But this is where this community comes in - I never would have been able to complete this rack with Mr. Moneybags routinely paying $20-$25 per chip. Here what you guys have done for me:
I've gotten FREE chips in the mail from the following guys: @AWenger @MegaTon44 @kmccormick100 @Verebrant (this one came from the other side of the world) and @Wick125 These were wonderful gestures which I totally appreciate and I have and will continue to pay forward.
@kmccormick100 has also tipped me off to a few eBay auctions, including buying some cheap ones himself and giving them to me at cost. My largest volume benefactors have been @Psypher1000 and @Gear - they collected a total of 33 chips at the convention and sold them to me VERY VERY cheaply. IF they made a buck per chip for sorting through bins, they were woefully underpaid. @bivey and @AWenger sold me some for below market value, which I totally appreciate, and @Drumhoss (who's a vendor and is expected to look for top dollar) and @RainmanTrail (whose specialty is marketing and negotiations) also sold me some below market value - Thanks guys!

I'm thrilled with these. I'll post some better pictures and pictures of the playable set asap.

Bad thing is that it is probably someone on this site that was bidding you up! It's all good as it is the market price, but still sucks to get something at one price one time and totally skewed price the next

I've often thought that - it seems more likely than not. And all is fair on eBay, so, no complaints. It was an interesting conundrum. At the time I'd been getting them for $1-$5 apiece plus shipping. When he started out-bidding me, I thought, I know it's crazy, but I guess I'd pay $10 apiece for a few of these, if that's what it takes to win the auctions. But on the other hand, if they keep selling for $10 on eBay, that becomes the new market price, and I'll never fill my rack at that rate.
But like I said, the guys here have helped me around that problem, and I'm totally grateful.

Awesome. What a sight, seeing a full rack of these! The best looking and best shuffling $1 chip I've ever had the pleasure to own.

I just need to set the record straight on one thing... I did 'sweeten the pot' in a trade we made by throwing in a Gulfport $1 chip, but I wouldn't say I gave it to you for free. (I can't have you spreading rumors that I just give away free chips willy-nilly...:))

Great job Rob, and great looking chips.!

These and the Flamingos are my two favorite $1's but got into the game way too late.

Flamingos are great but do not come close to the GP 1s as far as availability/price go. I found 200 spotted birds and 200 spotted no birds for 2 bucks a chip last year in one pop but that may have changed a bit since...

If that rack of yours were auctioned, the right buyer might pay Dunes 1s prices...

Those are incredibly colorful $1s.

Probably took a lot of time to cut and place all those little clay pieces before it went into compression!

Now you need to put together a mint rack....
:sneaky:
No, now all I need is more of everything. It's technically playable now, at least for a small stakes 5-6 handed game, with a bank of almost $1500 (not counting that $500 chip.)
100 - $1
114 - $5
21 - $25
3 - $100
1 - $500
For quarters, I have 8 from the grand casino Biloxi (4 of each kind) and peach starbursts to fill out the rack. I'd love to find more of those Biloxi quarters, but they seem really really rare. Obviously another rack of ones and another rack of fives would open this up for a full ring .25/.50 game, but what I have now will actually do for my typical game.
I'm a case guy - this is the third case these have ended up in, as they've grown. This one has a stupid dice compartment, so I had to grab some matching dice!
But here they are. I'll get some table pics when I actually get them in play.

I was referring to harvesting, I know almost anything can be had for a price.

Man whoever did the chip colour breakdown on those gulfport knew what they were doing

Way to stick to it. I can remember when I was trying to complete my first rack of spotted birds! Man that was a while back and I thought I would never find them. I did it and my madness with all spotted chips drove me to collecting over 800 and counting! I keep saying I will stop at 1000 or 1200 for a nice limit set!
