Hello,

My first post. I don’t want to hate money as much as you all want me too, but I’m all about the game and I need to find me that primo set to round out my collection.

I’m looking at atlantic club hot stamps from CPC to do just that and I’d love some opinions.

I like the design and I don’t have much interest in customizing them.

Do most people see this as a “primo” set or do I just HAVE to get some Paulsons...?

I’d love to get some paulsons but 655$ (current HS AC price on CPC) is about as much as I’d ever pay, so forget this 1700 nonsense on Apache!

Welcome! Definitely get samples. CPCs are great but the molds are very different. Personally, I don’t like the A-mold that the Atlantics are stamped on.

Ah ty main. CPC has the “still in production” prices I hope to pay rather than the “1st edition rarest card in the game” price most eBay paulsons do so Idk how many other sources they are in for what I’m looking for in this day and age.

what I’ve got already is (ceramic) Nevada jacks and tiki kings and (CC) pharaohs and dunes. I love what I’ve got and don’t need too many high end sets but I can’t deny that upper room category forever; your comment makes me feel good about CPC so far.

ah but see WHY don’t you like them? is there something physically wrong with them?

I personally never preferred one Symbol to the other as long as the MATERIAL stood out. A top hat and cane isn’t mandatory for me as long as the quality of material is near enough equal.

The finish feels too rough for my taste and I don’t like the aesthetics of them. Objectively there’s nothing wrong with them of course but my point was all chips feel and sound different and it’s hard to know what you’ll like without sampling.

Hello And welcome! I personally love that design as well but you may want to spend a few weeks watching the various options that flow through the classifieds here. I came in with my heart set on Jack’s but after a few weeks of seeing different options my taste changed. You can then get some samples of your top couple and see what you like the feeling of best. The time spent can greatly decrease the chance of regrets!

You’ve entered a forum with very passionate opinions. The good thing about that is it helps challenge your assumptions and beliefs.

The “get samples” line is always a good one.

I wanted a set of customs clay chips and ordered a set of CPCs. I only purchased a mold and color sample to help me narrow down the details. I never tested against Paulsons/TRKs because I can’t customize those chips. No regrets at all.

I’ll stir up the pot and say it’s like you’re comparing BWM, Mercedes, Audi, etc. All different, all great, all backed by passionate fans, none perfect.

Hello Piccolo!

I got a lot of samples when I arrived here, mainly ceramics and CPC (Atlantic club and Key West) and finally Horseshoes Cincinnati. CPCs are great, Atlantics are very beautiful, but Paulson has something special, I really like them. Three months later I joined this site I know what I want, so, no be in a hurry!

Welcome!
Carlos

Welcome. CPC is an excellent option. The Atlantic club HS are nice chips for sure! You don't HAVE to own Paulson's, that is just some people's preference. I would recommend sampling some CPCs and Paulson's first, unless you already have some other sets or samples. There are some vendors here, who have large chip sales of Paulson's that can be very affordable, however with CPC you have the ability to be a bit more flexible with your desired breakdown.

Nice, hey do you have a link to the website for key west?

Cool. What’s the best way to look for some paulsons? Just search it and see what I can find?

Welcome to the forum @Piccolo ! I think the CPCs are nice, but like others have said make sure you love them before investing! Most paulsons you can usually get your money back out of if you change your mind. The CPC hots stamps usually do not bring the same money for resale... you are paying a bit of that driving the new car off the lot fee.

Personally I am not a fan of CPCs stamping process... it seems more like a cold stamp to me. It's not really pressed into the chips like a Paulson, BCC or TRK stamp. It is possible maybe you can order different grades of stamping but the ones I have bought, when you go to clean your chips. If you are not very very careful you can was the stamp off the chip!

Chips get dirty and need to be cleaned on occasion, because I didn't come up with a way to clean them without hurting them I decided not to go that route.

If money wasn't an issue and you loved Hot stamp chips, i suggest trying to find a set of AS tourney chips! Highly loved on the forum and by far my favorite of all the hit stamped spotted tourney chips avalible!

That is the line up of that series.

There are other hot stamped paulson sets out there... this is my solid tourney set!
20200804_154325.jpg

They are RHC mold and less desirable than the THCs shown above. (If you look at the face of the chip you will see the ring around the outside of the hats on the THC that is not there on the RHCs)

Several casinos have sold out solid RHC HS tourney chips over the years so they are out there but you have to hunt them down!

That's called your chipping journey!! Buy something to get your game going and then start working on something a little harder to find!! There are times you can buy a fully playable set! I believe @Teggy has an amazing solid BCC tourney set avalible right now. But many of them take work to build unless and even including If you get in when they are first available!

Best of luck woth your hunt!! Feel free to reach out by PM with any questions you may have.

As others have said just buy a barrel of Paulsons to shuffle and feel before committing to CPC. Worn or new or both (they shuffle different). Plenty on here for $1 or less

For samples theres traveling sample loan threads, just pay shipping. Or post a wanted ad looking for some Paulson chips to sample. Many of us here have various extras and spares around.

If I read this thread correctly he's looking for a cash set

Yeah definitely just one table cash game collecting in my world.
My recommendation would be to browse and handle samples asap, so you are prepared in knowing your ultimate choice. Other than that just keep your eyes open on the classifieds and have your funds available. Dont feel like you need to rush, making the right choice isn't always so simple

An update to my intro here I wanted to say I proudly now have a set of 500 PAULSONS BABY! Woo! I went for harrah’s Cherokee casino N.C chips and they are awesome.

I think I was in Paulson denial at first thinking I couldn’t find any nice affordable ones, but I put this set together for $610 AFTER shipping and tax.

I still want some from CPC but in doing research I was wondering the following:

if anyone has these, how severe is the hot stamp fading? I don’t mind a little character, but certainly don’t want it just all falling off.

second, does anyone get those chips custom made with edge spots? My paulsons don’t have any and at some point I want to find a nice set of something WITH edge spots, but how terrible is it if I just get the CPC hot stamps without any? It sounds like a huge wait if I customize anything.

Love getting the white boxes though, I could just as easily hunt/ wait for another set of those.

Also how do I upload a higher quality picture!? ugh!
Lemme know any thoughts!

Congratulations! CPC hot stamp fading isn't terrible, but it also isnt 100% not every chip will show fading straight off the block, but with more use, they will fade faster. I believe it's a cold stamp opposed to a hot stamp, so it does not get pressed into the chip as far.
Edgespots are fun and amazing, but not required. It does however take a longer process, and more funds to get edgespots. Solids can be just as lovely.

@JeepologyOffroad plz halp I dont know how to make better pictures lol

Hello Piccolo!

I started with a set of ACM Nevada Jacks which I used for several years. They just never had the same feel as Paulson chips, and I always longed for a set. I was finally able to pull the trigger and get a nice set from the Black Friday sale by the Chip Room. They still have sets available at a price you will likely never beat.

The chip room? As in thechiproom.com or what? I’m def always looking for some new sites.

TheChipRoom is the first vendor under Marketplace Vendors on the front page of this website. His Black Friday Sale is one of the first two or three threads.

Got even more of these now!

I am looking for some more if anybody has some.

Does anybody have any of the rarer 500 and up ones they could sell? They seem really rare, but I thought I would throw it out there. I’m interested in more 5s, 25s and 100s too.
