Hey All,

Dan from Mexico had a pretty great intro post a few months back - so I'm going to use that for some inspiration.

Like the title says - I'm from eastern Pennsylvania (Lehigh Valley / Allentown area). I'm a long time forum lurker who got into poker some time ago... right about when the world series of poker was getting bigger on TV. Just a home game with some local friends. One of my buddies started with a metal briefcases of 300 dice chips to host our poker night... then like dominoes each of us got a set.

Soon I had my own shiny cheap metal briefcase full of plastic goodness. This is about the best picture I have of them now:

It was my chip age of innocence. These chips were great! Until a bachelor party took us out to Atlantic City. It was my first time at a casino and I wound up playing some black jack. It was Ballys/Park Place Wild West casino. Sitting there playing $10 hands of blackjack something just clicked. The sound... the way they felt... good weight..... Right there I knew I somehow needed to figure out what these chips were and how to get a set for home.

So the next day I started researching. Found some forum called 2+2, figured out what kind of chips I had in AC.. next it was on to a very blue board called CT, and wouldn't you know it there was a sale about to start. A little while later these beauties showed up & I was hooked:

I was thrilled with the purchase & couldn't imagine anything better. I stopped visiting online poker sites / boards & we were happy with the Pharaoh's for quite some time. Eventually I wondered what else I'd find if I returned to CT & saw what else was out there. Growing up just outside of NYC... wouldn't you know it there were some new chips circulating that caught me eye. A few weeks of browsing the classifieds & eBay wouldn't you know it these showed up.

Even though the PNY set hit everything I really needed.. I still didn't have those OTHER $500 chips...

What? They're making quarters now? Sure why not!

But all the while there was something about the giant inlay that just made me want a casino chip with a little less inlay & more clay. And I knew I liked the variety of a primary/secondary in a set... and wouldn't you know, of course something was coming to market right up that alley...

That was my last big splurge... and now that pesky itch is back. I actually tried to return where the madness really started for me only to see there had been a... shift... we'll call it... and here I am.

So greetings all! Some of you folks who've been around a long while ( i still remember some names) I have to thank.. as it may have been a random comment or pr0n thread of yours that's fueled my addiction, introducing me to the next amazing set to try and go after 'some day'. So as I sit here shuffling around the very chips that started this journey.. I thank the community that's kept it going! Cheers!

Welcome sir, welcome to the sickness, I can see you have the bug already, youll fit in just fine, just fine I tell you

Welcome! Very nice chip sets! (y)

Welcome! In a way it seems like we need you more than you need us. :D Nice chips. And most of those would fetch a pretty penny right now.

Welcome to the Forum. Great family community.

My wife is from PA. Ever heard of ST. Mary's. Nice little town.

Definitely seems like a great community. And never heard of St. Mary's. Sounds very Catholic. I looked it up and it's a good ways from my part of the state.. looks very woodsy out that way. Love that!

I kept trying to give them away until one day the cheap briefcase thing broke & the chips spewed out all over the place. That's how they earned their trip out to the curb.

funny...I had a set of bikini watchers (first chips) that went into the bin a few months ago when I was cleaning house!

Welcome! Envious of your $20 PCNY rack. :)

Thanks for warm welcome all! Appreciate it!

And Pokerdweebz - great that there are some locals on here.. or relatively local at least. I come out your way for work every once & a while. It's really nice out that way.... just not a fan of the drive out on Rt222.
