Hello all,
I was a member of Chiptalk a while back, and while I managed to buy a bunch of samples and single chips back then I never really committed to the sickness of poker chips. My current set is the faux clay plastic chips that had a cult following for a while, but they don't get much use anymore. One of my friends hosts occasional games and I am the designated supplier for chips, cards and anything else he may need to keep the game running.
I also managed to turn my wife into a gambler, and now one of our favorite hobbies is going to various casinos in the midwest for short weekend trips. Each casino we visit, we try to find a low denomination chip in the best condition possible to save for a future display. We decided to do this a little while after we had already been visiting casinos, so I started looking around on eBay for chips from past casinos that we were unlikely to visit again.
One of these casinos was Horseshoe Cleveland (Ohio), as it switched over to JACK and we would no longer be able to get one of the chips straight from the casino. I am also originally from the Cleveland area, so it was important to be able to track down a chip for our collection. Imagine my surprise when I looked on eBay to see high denomination chips like $1k, $5k and $25k were available! A quick Google search brought me here, and it didn't take long for me to start pursuing my first playable Paulson casino set. Unfortunately I am a little late to the game so it may be a little more expensive than the pre-sale/main sale pricing, but even if I have to do it a little bit at a time I'm determined to make it work!
This seems like a great community, and I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone and emptying out my bank account in the process.
