Hi everyone! I found this forum when I was looking for information on how to build a poker table. It's always dangerous for me to learn about a community of internet people who go DEEP on a subject. The eye roll from my wife when I showed her what I'd been reading about the past week was epic.

I had totally forgotten, but I actually ordered a set of "custom" chips when I was in college. I can't be certain, but I think I got them from CPC or their predecessor in 2002. Maybe you all can help me identify them. They look like the Roman (weave) mold. I was replacing the red white and blue plastic drug store chips we were using at the time, and I knew nothing about standard casino colors. There is no inlay, I'm sure because we were saving money for beer (don't ask why we needed clay chips). They must of been around 50c a chip at the time, or I couldn't have afforded them. I see there's been some inflation.... I didn't know anything about denominations then either, I got 167 of each color, so not the most functional set. I'm sure we did something silly like 25c, 50c, $1.

Anyway, this forum is way more dangerous now that I have disposable income. Of course, I also have a skeptical wife, so maybe a wash?

In terms of the table I hope to build at some point, I currently own no tools besides a screwdriver and a hammer, I have no experience working with wood, and have no place to put a table. But I've always wanted to make one. Lots of interesting ideas out there. Looking forward to picking your brains.

Welcome, and great time for you to join with such a set, as a few people/vendors here now can hot-stamp these blanks! Your Roman Mold chips are quite popular as well, since it's a discontinued mold.

Welcome! I’d be interested in trading you for your Roman mold blanks when you get settled. I have a small cash set with denominations or we can work something out as you get more established.
Enjoy everyone, including me, wanting your Romans. Welcome and good luck!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I'm looking forward to diving into the community.

It looks like I have a lot to learn. I had no idea these would be desirable or repurposable. Should I start a thread in another forum to ask questions about my chips, or is it appropriate to do it here?

I have no particular attachment to them. I'd much rather have a set of the rounders chips (replicas, not the actual movie), but I imagine those are worth more than mine.

The Roman mold chips are desirable because the Roman mold has been broken beyond repair for quite a while now, so they haven't been made in a long time and will never be made again unless a new mold is made. But the owner of CPC has repeatedly said that is cost-prohibitive, so I don't see it happening.

Your Roman molds are worth more per chip than Rounder replicas.

It's fine to do here, but I would recommend just making a new thread after you've taken time to run some searches if those turn up empty. There's a ton to take in before you can truly know what you ultimately want, especially with regard to chips you don't even know exist. I would suspect down the line the option to hot-stamp your original chips with something custom would have a huge appeal.

Thanks for all the helpful info! Been reading way more than is healthy. I think I'm going to order some Rounders samples from CPC as a start, and see if that's where I want to go. I'll have to think about what I want to do with my Romans. I need to educate myself more on hotstamping.

One question for your all... it looks like the Rounders chips aren't always available from CPC. Any idea when the CSQ will stop being produced? Definitely prefer the look of those to the scroll.

They recently completed a production run so they should be pretty well stocked on the standard denominations right now. Correct choice on the csq mold as well- they are fantastic
