Well, she finally arrived today. I went with a pretty basic/traditional look but I did upgrade to jumbo cup holders since we have a lot of scotch/whiskey drinkers in our game. So first thoughts...

I spent a little over $1k on the table and I'm definitely not disappointed. Having recently built my own table https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/first-table-build-scared-to-post-this.60773/ I can tell its a quality build for the price point. The table is sturdy and for me the most important thing is that the gorilla legs offer the option of easy storage. I know for a fact I would not have been able to build something as clean as this myself given my limited skills and truthfully I didn't want to build another table. I have no doubts that building your own table is in fact cheaper. Despite some questionable shipping (see first photo, likely caused by UPS during delivery), I found the table to be free of any scratches/defects. I had a good experience with GG customer service and they always returned my E-Mails promptly and answered any questions I had. All in all it took about 5 weeks from the time I ordered to when the table was delivered. I think I might end up regretting the fact I didn't go with a custom felt but I know I can always change that down the road. All things considered, I would happily do business with GG again.

The only thing that remains to be seen is how the table will hold up over time.

I concur. I have the same table with the cheaper legs. It’s held up EXTREMELY well in terms of durability. It’s a very attractive table. I truly love it and give it a 10/10.

However, for $1k, I think they’re overreaching. Gorilla Gaming have doubled their prices from a few years ago. I guess the demand is there to support those prices and all the more too them, but Chanman can build a table of equal quality for a cheaper price.

@megarises dude I've been on the fence about buying a GG table myself. I'm finding it hard to digest the price and they just recently bumped it up by a significant amount, probably due to lumber and shipping increases thanks to COVID-19. I have an interesting post out there where I cry about the price jump...fun read, but it did ruffle some feathers. :)

This is almost exactly what I'd go with, but I'm not planning on cup holders, so even MORE basic.

What felt color is that? Green suited speed felt? Or "green black"? It's funny how it it looks like a different color in each photo! Especially the first one, it looks blue.

As far as price you paid...it sucks out there man! What I'm wondering is, where are all the people with GG tables that sat in their basement and they are looking to offload them for $500 or something? I "never" see decent used tables around.

@mummel I don't think Chanman would go cheaper on a basic table. He would have in the past but he's so booked out now he's more interested in highly customized/fancy builds.

Looks sturdy, but $1K is a lot to spend for little customization.

What other choices are out there though? Basically build-it-yourself...and that's about it. I mean, fair enough, but if you are short on skills/time/tools/space for the build...ugh!

Sorry, didn't mean sound elitist or anything. But I live in the land of riches - @T_Chan is just down the road from me.

I’ve been looking at Gorilla, BBO, and Triton. Not in a rush to get one now due to the COVID. Also some searches on Facebook marketplace or craigslist usually shows some used tables for sale.

They jacked their prices before covid.

Nice, so no shipping hit? I'm east coast USA...a ways away. ;p

Triton...I'll have to look into them. BBO I think is a step down from GG. They don't offer a simple table, and I think the quality is under what GG can provide. What do you know about Triton? I'm in the same boat regarding COVID-19. Hurt the game, hurt my job (pay raise frozen, 401k "bonus" frozen, ESPP completely donked out...my company is tied closely to the airlines so yeah...we'll see how this goes).

They jacked their prices before covid.

AND during/after. I've been closely watching them and they upped their prices by like $125 recently, and upped the GG leg prices too.

What color suited speed cloth is your's? Sexy table.

GG gaming is tied to an east coast bar league. Since there are no bar leagues that have to Jack their prices to survive.
Now that’s just my thoughts on the matter. I have no insider info on the matter.

Looks very nice. How do you like the speed cloth? Some say it feels a little "cheap" but most tend to love it

They doubled their prices per covid. They landed some big casino deals that gave them confidence to jack prices.

Well, Tony does ship worldwide. And remember, the prices on the site are in Canadian dollars, so your US dollars will stretch another 30%. It's worth taking into account even after calculating for freight shipping, etc.

Thank you for the wonderful review. Glad to see your table made it even though the shipping company certainly put some hurt on our pallet!

As for those talking about raising prices, none of those theories are accurate. We certainly have not doubled them, but after staying the same for 3 years, we were forced to increase table prices 10% due to materials and shipping costs recently and gorilla legs by $10 due to increase in raw materials, duties, and shipping costs that were actually more. Shipping prices are included in our tables and that is large percentage of the price, as we do include freight and palletizing in our prices and freight companies have gotten crazy lately.

Our casino business has actually only helped us reinvest on improving on our materials and process in order to actually keep prices down on higher quality materials, faster lead times, and even a full in-house printing for extremely fast felt designs and 2-3 days turn around on printing production. Glad you are happy and let us know when you are ready to put a custom cloth on that table, that is certainly the easiest change anyone can make!

I love the table I got from you guys. It’s very well done. But lets be honest. I paid ~half the price a few years back vs what you’re selling them for now. As I said, you’re a business and if the demand is there, all the more to you folks. You deserve it. But the basic table with no customization just ain’t worth $1k for the retail market (my opinion). But congrats on your success! You guys have done well.

What table did you buy? We went up $100 even to pay for shipping and materials increases that were actually MORE than that $100 across the board. Had nothing to do with anything else. It's just too hard to keep pricing any lower on basic tables and keep the lights on.

FWIW I spent $350+ on materials alone (albeit all of the top tier materials) for a full size basic topper without legs or cups. I threw out my elbow doing it over the course of 2 days with a buddy and would never again. I wish I could turn back time and spend just $1k on a basic table. There is a lot of time and energy and expertise that goes into these. So worth it.

Above is a good reference point. That's over 4 years old, but at ~$550, compared to those same selections today costing $1084...that's beating inflation for sure (inflation calculation would be about $604).

Anyways just trying to point out what @mummel was alluding to regarding price changes.

I know guys that would rather work overtime to pay for a hobby than do the work themselves...everyones different...

I'm one of them, but with the COVID-19 stuff going down, there is no overtime or raises or much of anything on the horizon. Still thankful to have a job though! :)

@megarises I pinged this in an earlier comment, but I think it got lost in the noise. If you don't want to respond on it, that's fine too. What color did you go for the suited speed cloth? Green or "green black"? It's funny how it it looks like a different color in each photo. Especially the first one, it looks blue-ish there.

It’s green :)
