Just got these from Kardwell. I love their look. I love full bleed and the face cards have a very classic look about them.

They’re fairly stiff. I don’t have a lot of stiff cards on hand to compare them to, but I’d say if you like stiff cards you’ll like these and if you like them flexy, you probably wont. FWIW, they’re not so stiff that you can’t do that big bridge shuffle that so many non-dealers like to do, but almost - they’re right there.

They appear to have the same finish on both sides, which is smooth not textured. Which makes for a nice buttery smooth shuffle.

They pitch fine. Not the best ever, but no complaints. They gather just about perfectly, probably a 9/10 there. Just about zero top card float, another 9/10.

They appear to have a very slight bow, out of the box. Doesn’t affect handling at all, but that’s something worth keeping an eye on.

Two jokers, no cut cards.
Their price is borderline outrageous - $25.50 in any colors you want as long as they’re green and black. Add $18.24 for shipping (was the same for one or two setups for me) and they’re not a cost effective solution. But bridge jumbo is getting harder to find these days. And if you like bridge jumbo full bleed stiff cards, these are for you!!!!!

Thanks for the info! I like Gemaco Superflex, as they are 1 of my top 3 preferred brands. I’ve never used Proflex, and have been curious about them.
I had one setup of their 5-star, most basic stock. Couldn’t stand those, and got rid of them. Never again!
Always looking for new cards, and again, highly recommend Superflex!

I quit Kardwell years ago, terrible shipping and awful customer service. I’ve also had too many issues with Gemaco cards to buy them any longer. They seem to mark rather easily and sometimes just break apart. Plus I’ve had several decks with concave and convex warping. But kinda like Kem, when they are good they are good. Bowed up tend to flip when pitched, bowed down won’t slide worth a damn and are difficult to peek at.

Yeah they were an impulse buy. I thought I’d sworn off expensive setups and I do prefer the flexiest cards in the land. So $25 with high shipping for stiffys isn’t where I’d like to be. They are pretty and some of my players like stiff cards so I’ll definitely play them. But I won’t be stocking up on them.

I like all of the Gemaco cards I’ve handled. Don’t like the full bleed unfortunately. Oh I think it looks great but I find the border on the back of cards to operate a little bit like edge spots on a chip. It makes it easier to get a quick count when they’re all in a pile on the table..

That might be these?
They say 5 star on the Ace. But they were sold as gem pro. https://www.kardwell.com/gemaco-pla...ize-super-index-green-and-black-set-no-border

Maybe, I never handled Gem Pro, so I can’t compare as to the feel. Also, since I’ve never seen them, I’m not sure how they brand the Ace. Maybe Gem Pro and 5 star are the same line? I’m not sure.
Here’s a pic of the Superflex Aces (Monte Carlo Jumbo, Monte Carlo standard, regular Superflex standard). Monte Carlo was a special run of Superflex sold exclusively through Kardwell.

Yeah, I swore them off after running a local CO GB for some Superflex a few years ago. They made a few mistakes, and it was the worst experience getting them to fix it. Once it was reconciled, I said I would never work with them again. Plus I had all the Superflex setups I would ever need.

^^ This my experience completely, with both Kardwell and Gemaco. I haven't dealt with either one since they stopped selling bridge-size Superflex cards.

I bought several of the Gemaco variations and never really liked any of them. Superflex is the best but the artwork is the second ugliest next to Faded Spade IMO.

I haven’t played much in AC since before Covid but Gemaco were frequently used for tournaments while Kems seemed to be reserved for cash. Many of the Superflex I saw in play at the casino had ink almost chipped off the face sides of some cards…so I don’t think they hold up as well to extreme use. My one set also took slight bow.

The Five Stars are total garbage
