With oil so low these days the Saudis were forced to change the price at the pump. They raised the price of a gallon of 91 octane to 75 cents a gallon. It used to be 45 cents. Damn, this is going to hurt.

Perspective: As long as you love the desert then ..75/gal gas is a SCORE!

Should probably blame Obama, he hasn't been blamed for the price of gas in quite awhile.

$2.20 today on the low side in the Portland metro area. Lots of places at $2.40 to $2.50 closer to the city.

$2.139 is the lowest around here (15 miles N of Chicago).

It's funny, the first time I remember paying over $2/gallon was actually in Evanston while I was in grad school, about 15 years ago.

$1.68 in NJ over the weekend, about $2.20 up here in upstate NY.

In the land of one of the highest gas tax states in the Nation and two cars that require premium we pay about $2.30 or so around here. Man I love it.

I am apologize for my mistake. I had $1.69 was the lowest price in San Antonio. Out of curiosity I looked up what the lowest are and here was the reported lowest prices in San Antonio.

Tried to find the old video of Andy Rooney attempting to pay for 1 gallon of gas to the fraction of the penny using coins and coupons with a value of 1/100 of a cent each. That guy was the dumbest most annoying shit of all time.

I have to run at least 93 octane in my car so there are only a few select stations I can go to. I wanna say it was in the $2.20/gallon range.

I have had the conversation with people many times about the brilliance of the fuel industry adopting the 9/10 cent on the end. If the price on the pump is $1.99 9/10 are you really paying under $2/gallon? I guess technically so, but not on the final bill.

That is correct. I have been in the business for the last 24 years and the oil companies are marketing geniuses.

On another note....
I can remember a man coming in to one of our stations complain about the price being over $3 per gallon while he was buying a 1 liter bottle of water for $1.50. I looked at him and reminded him that there are 3.8 liters to one gallon so he was paying $5.70 for a gallon of water. He smiled and left with no response.

Yes especially when most countries are paying through the nose by the liter

I remember the first time driving up to Canada when we were 19 (drinking age :D ) and pulling into a gas station outside of Vancouver (Coquitlam for you CA heads!), I saw something like .79 on the sign and started formulating a plan to fill up tanks of gas in Canada and drive them back home...then I realized how fast the numbers were spinning and the conversion from liters to gallons was instantly burned into my head. Haven't forgot it since! ;)

I bet you were going to go door-to-door selling gasoline for a profit!

"Sir/Madam, good afternoon and a lovely home you have here. Do you have time today to hear the good word of Canadian Gasoline? I have a few pamphlets here that will help explain....." ;)

I almost fell for that years ago as well. We were traveling from Ypsilanti and drove through Canada to get to the dock where the Chi-Cheemaunn Ferry is docked which would take us to Manitoulin Island. So we pulled in to a gas station because it had a posted price of like .90. Well by the time you figure the conversion I was like what the H@##? Oh and then convert that to US dollar and by then my brain was fried!

If my calculations are correct its $3.55usd a gallon here.

We get raped. When the Aussie dollar was more than the U.S. We still paid the same amount. The blamed the oil price (even though it hadn't gone up)

When oil was $100+ a barrel we paid the same amount. Now it's what $50? Price didn't even slightly drop.

The petrol companies here do whatever they want.

So if we use the same pricing strategy that Big Oil is using where it is well over $2 in the north and well under $2 in the South can we apply that same strategy to chips???

Just saying:D
