I'm looking to redo my table and I'm looking for a cloth option. I dont wanna spend the money on a custom felt and I also hate the feel of speed cloth. Has anyone used microsuede as a playing surface? It seems to feel pretty good.

Nylon is awesome and really cheap.

I got hooked up years ago with a guy who made parachutes...his SCRAPS were big enough to cover a poker table...see if you can find a guy in your area....

Microsuede usually has a visible nap which inhibits card slide in certain directions. Personally, I can't stand it.

For a relatively cheap slick surface, try nylon.

I went with Nylon Velvet Speed Cloth from YAT. feels awesome but definite grain that prohibits cards from sliding in one direction. For an octagon it would be perfect. After two years finally replaced with SSC.

Thelayout company on eBay has polyester and nylon gaming suede for as cheap as $60-$70.
This. I love the layout I got from them

Gaming suede has no directional nap. See post #3.
