Gambol / Gamble (1 Viewer)

I've said this a couple of times now, but I just want to check this isn't just an "other side of the pond" thing.

My US fellow members seem to use "gambol" (meaning to play or prance, especially in a childlike manner), in place of "gamble" (meaning to bet or wager).

Is this an intentional thing to use one word instead of the other, just on this site, or do you guys generally just spell "gamble" as "gambol" in the States?

I have to ask, because I have to know.

Gambol: placing wagers in a joyful expression of your love of variance, typically alcohol is involved

Gambol - pronounced "GAMBOOOL"

In my head I always took it as a NH meatup type phrase for the degens... man I'm going to hate if I'm wrong, love it!

There is not an incorrect pronunciation. The addition of an extra letter "o" (or ten) merely expresses one's level of willingness to wager.

We use 'gambol' pronounced 'Gambolllllllllllll!'.

But then I'm in the UK and wasn't aware of the US dominant 'gambool' cos I'm such a part timer and don't pay attention
