Hi guys I just wanted to start this thread to show off my home game! Today we played 7 handed .02/.05 MTS with the 72 game on and fixed limit omaha on monotone boards. :) had great fun playing for just 6 hours! we usually grind and play from 7:30pm to 1:30am. I was in for 12$ and out for 21$. Usually we play bigger games but since college has been keeping people busy we have just been playing 5$ games to keep it lighthearted

Threading your game is a lot of fun and it’ll keep you motivated to have your game always moving forward.

Good luck.

thanks! really awesome home game you got :) i hope one day i can dish out the money on custom kidney table with custom chips, but for now I’ll stick to our china clays for our microstakes lol

I totally walked, like most of us, before I jogged and so on and so forth.

Find a good table build thread on here, google it etc and you’ll have a sweet table before you know it. My one and only was about a $600 build minus the light and USB ports.

And those China Clays are great. Group buys for the Tina Clays also a more than acceptable upgrade from some of the OTC chips you see at retail stores etc. I only started to dabble in hard to find molds recently. Love my HHR’s, DieCards, and ceramics.

If they’re playable and you like them that’s all that matters.

Games grow slowly and die quickly. Lots of good hosts on here to chime in if you have issues or questions.

Good luck.

Right now I have a poker groupchat filled with about 20 people, started off with just close friends but it has soon branched out and its a ring of friends of friends, it usually gets bigger 10 handed when school is off because my home game is kind of out of the way for my friends who dorm. Im not sure if I would start advertising but if I did I would have to have some sort of vetting process but I would only start this if I start hosting bigger games than i already do (biggest being .1/.2)

Good stuff!! Looks like youre using the dollar chips as cent chips. Not sure why I never thought of that! Might have to try it at my next game if we want to play a bit smaller/deeper stacked. Keep working on building your game and I'll do the same!!!

Yes! Ive found this chip system works best as it cuts down on you having to buy both a microstakes set and a proper cash game set, I just bought 425 more 5$ chips to properly set up my .1/.2 game. if you do end up playing some .02/.05 and if your friend group is any similar to mine the double straddle is always on and it just ends up playing like .02/.05/.1/.2 lol

Now that’s advertising I can get behind…

Always be recruiting.

“License and registration sir.”
“Do you play poker officer?”

“May you be blessed my son.”
“Do you play poker Father?”

“Can I get you a beverage? The specials are on the back of the menu.”
“Here’s a tip; play in my game.”

“Was it good for you too honey?”
“I have a different seat for you on Friday.”

Well done.

Lol! I have tried to expand my game by getting in friends of friends to play but they only end up playing for a game or two, do you have any advice on how to get these people to come back and become regulars? I already have a set circle who is willing to play but I would love for these new faces to show back up every once and a while

Well, only what I know from experience…

Play what they want.
Play at the stakes they want.
Promote camaraderie.
Entertaining communications. (See below)
Food (Nice spread - encourage support
Build an environment
Rotating chips
Create an alternate universe
Don’t dismiss the infrequents
Horse racing
One prop (ours is a paired flop)
No bum rush after the session
No hard stop
Expectations
Deliver on what you promise
Build a playlist and do it with requests
Make alcohol optional to uncommon
Don’t hate on those who puff
Encourage plus ones with a vouch
Pretend it’s democratically managed

It’ll all be in the book.

You’re still buyin it right? Autographed copy to you pending an invite when your game takes off.

Love it, well done. What were the blinds, for $20 buyin?
For my home game we divide each chip denom by 10 so in reality the 1$ chip is .10$, the 5$ chips is .50$, and the 25$ chip is actually 2.5$. with this format we just play .1/.2 blind structure but with my friend group who sometimes regularly plays actual 1$/2$ make the opens to 1.5$ or more lol if the straddles on which turns it into a big game quick especially since i kept asking for uncapped bombpots every other orbit or so lol

really jealous of you $5 Majestics..mine were so maroon and even more darker red once oiled...

This is a great idea! Need to name my game and thread it. Got some great stories and photos as of recent. Sweet game you got there!

I think the lighting for this photo made them out brighter than reality, I recently acquired 425 of them from eBay and they are way darker than my previous set, just like you said almost maroon but the ones I owned prior almost have a hot pink tint that is way lighter in comparison to the deep maroon on the others, I also found that I guess depending on the batch height can also vary a ton which irks me but I’ll live and breathe
