Fraudulent Paypal emails? (1 Viewer)

Has anyone else received fraudulent Paypal emails?

Earlier this summer I received an email saying I sent $xxx to xxxx. It looked kind of so I opened it on my phone and then checked my PP account on my computer and the transaction was not in my account summary. I kept an eye on it and it never registered, never thought anything about it again....till today.

I received en email from "Service Account" not paypal, but when you open it, it looks kind of official from paypal saying "Your account has invalid information. Therefore, we have limited your account and cannot offer the service for you." there is some other stuff and then it says "you have two days to from now to fully restore your account access through the resolution center. If we don't receive the information before this deadline your account access may be further limited" ....With a huge LOGIN NOW button at the bottom.

This email looks more official, but thought I would defer to some people with more intelligence and and experience with this.

Sounds like pfishing to me. You might want to log in to your PP account directly (not through a link in an email) and check your account for messages. If PP has limited or frozen your account, you should see a message.

To be safe, I'd change my PP password. Because I'm paranoid, I'd do it from a computer or device other than the one on which I opened the email.

i have got those same emails and every time i do i NEVER click anything in them no matter how official they look...

then i go to paypal site and check things there if there are any messages from them or if anything needs attention....thieves have got the emails down so they look 100% legit but dont trust them, just close it out and check yourself at their site..

i get them also from banks accounts....never click any link inside an email, my opinion

Haven't received phishing emails yet, but did have a random transaction this week go into "processing" and then just never go through. My bank never saw the transaction and PayPal couldn't stop it. Had to wait 3 days before I trusted things enough to resend.

PayPal shenanigans.

I meant to post in the original thread that I logged into my account from a different device than the one I opened the emails on, and it seemed normal. I didn't notice any messages anywhere either. I'll double check again here in awhile

on a similar note i got my first ever recorded phone call that said they were from the IRS and if i didnt call them within 24hrs they were going to arrest me!! it was actually entertaining message because it was so out there that i cant believe even one person in a hundred thousand would actually believe it was true.....i should have written down the phone number, might be fun to mess with them..here is one

Never click a login link in an email. Just go to the site in your browser and log in directly. If they need something from you, they'll tell you there.
