Hi guys,

Just pondering the idea of a table top with no middle crease in the cloth. Is this something that is possible? All the folding tables I've seen fold outwards and have a crease in the middle. Is this because the top rail would interfere with folding inward and the cloth would either be loose or stretch and tear? I don't have the room for a full size table or table top. I need a folding one but I don't want the crease in the middle. I'm guessing its probably more for structural stability. Is the crease that big of a deal for dealing cards and them flipping over?

It can be done.

I can’t imagine how something could fold without having a crease. Sounds like you’re a perfect candidate for a topper.

All of my portable tables and table-tops are crease-less. Most are bi-fold designs (three main pieces connected together), which takes up less space when folded.

T-nuts, though the vinyl wrap causes the open ends of the rail to pull inward and, effectively, clamp themselves to the table. Most of the time I don't bother bolting it down.
No casual casino table poker rails are attached. All lift off easily for cleaning and felt replacement. Cards and chips under the rail are found just by having a few people remove their elbows and then a slight lift of the rail where the card or chip is.

I'm working on a topper right now where the rail is removable, in 2 pieces, but the playing surface is 1 single sheet with no fold. It can then be stored away in 3 pieces.
This is what I need. Or a removable rail that sits on a neoprene table topper on my dining table. When you start taking orders again, I’m in.

A removable rail that could be split into sections and you could add additional sections to expand size and could then be used on different sized table toppers. And easy to store.

I know this is an old thread but I’m considering something similar, a round 60” table top that can fold onto itself. @ekricket do you happen to have any close up pictures of how yours folds and the hardware (I’m assuming piano hinges)
Looks like you have a couple inch wide strip of wood that’s hinged to the 2 larger outer pieces is that right? When it’s unfolded flat for play do you notice the small gaps from the hinges at all?

You are correct. And there is no gap or bump when folded flat. The only noticeable thing is if you are sitting in the exact middle you can feel the small wood piece under the center of the rail and there’s no padding for about and inch on either side. I’ll send pics next week if you remind me, on a poker cruise till then. But the padding and the felt on the playing surface are one piece.
