Interesting. I left a chip sit in Sodium Sesquicarbinate, another TSP substitue, and the foil turned black.

Foils vary and cleaners vary, and they are often incompatible -- sometimes dependent on time and/or temperature, sometimes not.

To minimize foil damage, always test on any new combination, and never make assumptions based on 'similar' history or take anything for granted.
