New to the forum (yes I’m trying to get my posts in). Been researching chip manufacturers and and set ideas. That being said I’m looking to build my first home cash game set with some Paulsons. I figure go big or go home and piece it together 1st go around over the course of a year and have the set I love. Here’s my dilemma… should I try to buy live chips like bellagios or find old casino chips? I’m trying to have mint quality on the chips to start fresh. Setting up the cash game of somewhat low stakes .25/.50 blinds.. 50 buy in and 100 reloads. Probably looking for a set structure of:

200– .25c (figure ill have to relabel some fancy 1’s)
200– $1
100- 200 -$5
20-$20

Any help/advice is appreciated
PS for the forum moderators you should have a way to have for a member to vouch for a new member to maybe mitigate some of the requirements for us less talkative folk to be involved in things like purchasing on classifieds. ( though I don’t know anyone on this forum yet — hoping to get to know y’all)

Anyway thanks again. Here we go!

You probably don't need 200 quarters unless you play 0.25/0.25 always with 10 players and every orbit is a limpfest. 100 quarters is often enough for most 1-table low stakes cash games.
If you play 0.50/1 and never go lower in stakes, then even 60 half-dollar chips should be enough.
Right on thank you for the suggestion! Aiming for 6-8 people on average. Would you suggest having more of say 1’s?

how much do your players buy in for, how often do they rebuy, how loose/tight are they?

100 x 25c
200 x $1
200 x $5
80 x $20
20 x $100

Are kinda the standard build for 600 25c/50c chip set, it also way easier to sell off in future than most other breakdown

You can get them minty from classified or thechiproom sales that happen a couple time per year

this is pretty much the recommended standard across the board

Thanks y’all for the input! Are y’all a fan of live chips or 2nds for the lower denoms? Course I know .25c are hard to come by.

Have more of what your game needs for the workhorse, either $1 or $5 (typically). Calculate bank needs as 50-100% above the maximum amount on the table on the biggest night for your group.
