Hello Poker Chip Forum,

I’m pretty much like everyone else here, unable to overcome my interest in very specific poker chips.

I asked my parents for a high-end set when I was younger and they told me: well, no. ‘You’re too young, you won’t take care of them, start with a cheap set and we’ll see if you even use them...’

Well, here I am - years later, able to buy my own chips. I’m getting back into hold ‘em and I plan to start building up a collection.

I’m looking for Classic or Top Hat & Cane sets from Paul/Eric Endy’s Paul-Son line; Gaming Partners International. I imagine I’ll need to scavenge loose racks or individual chips to build a set because I don’t see many complete sets for sale.

I’m also looking for the modern clay line from Stephan Aarstol’s buypokerchips.com; now Sidepot. Those pink, red, orange hues were incredible...

Anyway, an introduction to get the ball rolling. I need ‘x’ amount of posts before I’m able to utilize the rest of the forum.

Greetings!

I don’t mean to ruffle any feathers, but the $5-9 /chip trend for Paulson seems ‘a bit high.’

Is this the current standard for these chips or is it the result of an eBay supply-drought?

Welcome though...

Hello and welcome to PCF! You'll be knee deep in chips before you know it. Enjoy the fun...and the chips!

Thanks for the laugh - Do you think this will worsen or improve come holiday season?
If this is the price that people are paying than I might just give up early...

There doesn't seem to be any holiday change (other than great ChipRoom Black Friday deals), but yeah, the prices range from ~$80/rack to $1000s/rack, just depends on the chip...
Check out the Classifieds and you'll see the range.
Good luck and throw your wallet out now....... ;)

Hello welcome! Honestly the price varies greatly, if its any condolences to your concern I spent over $30 per chip for some chips from the PCA riverboat casino that is closed  :ROFLMAO:
Hope you have time to enjoy some good reading material! Glad you will be playing again and collecting!
Best luck with your chip search!! :D

That's only for the deluxe chips that are in high demand and are minty fresh with colors/spots designed by PCF hobbyists rather than a casino pencil pusher. Plenty of older Paulson chips that are much cheaper. Take a look at RHC mold Paulsons ... can get really nice chips for less than the classic THC. Don't mind slightly used? ... then there are a bunch of casino sets out there for way less than $5-9 range (see Casino Aztar Indiana). Make sure to get samples, and enjoy the hunt.

After my first day on the site, I nearly bought three different sets online. I think that I would have wasted my money...

I saw pictures of the Empress Star chips this evening. They are easily the most magnificent set of chips that I’ve ever seen.

That is my new dream set, hands down.

You can get classics on here for $2.75-$3.75/chip they come up every so often and in huge collections (one was 4000+ chips) maybe once a year?
Indeed...

My first transaction on PCF was for a 500ct Paulson's Classics cash set. I believe I paid $1100 USD for it. So you can score some deals.

Additionally, I've scored some other deals along the way in my short time here. My whole Paulson's Pharaoh's collection, which has grown to 500 chips, has cost me an average of $3.05/chip. They are in very good condition I'd say. Some of them are minty.

I got some help too along the way:tup::)

Good Luck man!
