First post here before buying my 1st set (3 Viewers)

Go with tournament denoms, it’s more fun for play money.

Agreed (my kids want the $ sign though ... T5000 isn't as cool as $5,000). However, smaller denominations make the set more versatile should he ever want to actually start up a game where people put down $20.

120/120/100/100/60 of $25, $100, $500, $1000, and $5000 chips would cover a nice 20/20/15/15/5 breakdown if you’re playing with so few people, but I’m no expert.

Since you play for fun, and never real money, it doesn’t matter what denominations you use, so find a set that you like the looks of, and pick the denoms you like the best. Not sure what vendors would be best for you in Israel. Maybe something from Europe?

For 6-7 players, you could easily get by with 400 chips (maybe even 300). Assuming you want to play $5/10 blinds:

$5 x 150
25x 150
100 x 75
500 x 25

Generally, avoid choosing denominations that are 2x the previous denomination, I.E., 1/2/5/10/25/50 is really inefficient. The only exception is that 500/1000 is standard pretty much everywhere.

The Monaco Casino chips from Discount Poker Shop are my favorite inexpensive sluggers I’ve handled so far. Compared to the Showdown/Poker Knights I had, they’re less slippery with softer feel, have a bit less beveled corners, and smoother edges. Nice colors, too. I bought them for an inexpensive tournament set.

Maybe a vendor East of the Atlantic carries them?

I'm going to assume tournament style play?
Sorry for being a newbie but i don't know the differences. All i know is that you can choose to burn cards or no,sometimes i do and sometimes i don't

Unfortunately one of the chips yoy sent me can't be sent outside of canada/usa and the second ones cost 100$ to ship

Cash typically uses actual cash denominations, aka 25 cents, $1, $5, $25 etc your blinds are usually .25/.25 or .25/.50, and you can buy in for any amount of money
Tournament uses Tx denoms, aka T25, T100, T500, T1,000
Tourney play is versatile and you can design a blind structure based on how many players you have and how long you want the game to last. That information will lead to how many chips you will need, and how many of each denomination. Tournament play is probably preferable for just for fun play, opposed to actual cash values. Here your blinds would start with 25/50 (sb/bb) for x amount of time and progressively increase as time goes on.

Also - I've never heard of not burning the cards. Always burn 1 flop 3, burn 1 turn 1, burn 1 river 1
@BGinGA for clarification on my part, is there any time that not burning (aside from an accidental card exposed during dealing) that it is ok not to burn?

You can check Israeli amazon, they might have some of the chips we're talking about.

Thanks for all the responses but it was 2am where i live so i'll respond now,i play texas hold'em and also blackjack but the main focus is hold'em.I don't bet real money it's just to play with family and friends so therefore the stakes and limits don't matter so much only the numbers on the chips.Number of players would be max 6/7.budget is 80$.

In that price range (and assuming that $80 must include shipping), I would either go cheap and buy 500+ 8.5g diamond chips, or go a little more quality with 400 Claysmith 14g chips.

The Claysmiths are pretty nice. The look great, have a reasonably “clayish“ texture, don’t sound too aweful, and stack like a champ. The downsides with these are: at 14 grams, the chips will feel too heavy, and you can hear a metal insert when they splash the pot though it is muffled by softer plastic.

The 8.5g diamond chips are the best of the bottom of the barrel. They sound decent because they lack a metal insert and have crosshatching that gives at least a little friction. They’re nothing special, but they suck considerably less than other chips in the $0.05 - $0.10 price range (e.g. 11.5g dice chips).

A lot of people here really keen on high end sets, they are amazing but break the bank, especially if you are just after a play money set. If I was you I would go for 11.5g NUMBERED chips, they make play so much more enjoyable. Should get a decent set of 300-500 chips for $80.

For that budget, definitely get the bluff canyons. I like the color scheme.

Poker knights are better quality however but I find the colors dull.

Look at the chips as an investment. You can usually sell them for at least what you paid for them. Get something appealing that will sell itself when the time comes. Since shipping is high, sample sets are a waste of time and money. There are bargains to be had
