First Paulson Tournament Set? (1 Viewer)

If this were a few years ago, I’d have suggested either a Paulson or BCC Fun Nite set - they seemed pretty easy to find, and for hood prices back then. But they just don’t seem to come up very often, any more.

Looks like a sweet setup! Do you host at your home?
Yes... family games in our cramped dining room. $10 gets you 15k in chips, we usually play 2 - 3 tourneys a night. Have many inexperienced players and a couple of us almost are always battling it out at the end, we usually chop at 3 players and start over.

Its usually Brie (to my left) myself and the Hairy Bastard at the other end battling it out!

Usually we travel with a Barrington table to my cousins house so they don't have to drive down as they have young kids that need entertaining

Fairly common final 3 for us! Lol

Seems to be common these days with everything going up up up in prices. They say patience is a virtue maybe that will hold true.

I have two of the barrington tables myself! I'm glad I got then when I did because they seemed to double in price over night. My games are 20 dollar buy ins for 20K starting stack with rebuys through level 6. I have the blinds structured to last 5 hours and we usually are right around there. I use the blinds are up app to manage everything.

Yeah after scanning thr image for a bit I'm guessing its the Brandon sign. More of a thing as one of my regulars name is Brandon than a political thing but its nice to see people making that drastic of a comment about someone from such a small thing without knowing the person. My regulars have all different views on life but we come together with fellowship and friendship through poker.

You won't be disappointed with the Paulson chips, I know exactly what you are going thru. I have a set of 500 Paulson's I got as a gift from the man himself "Paul Indy" years ago for some work my company did for his plant in Mexico. I keep them on my yacht in Mexico, Paul also had a yacht down there so you know I wasn't going to have some other brand on my boat. I needed a set for my home games. I tried other brands and have dumped them to play with the Paulson chips. It hurts to buy but, feels great to play and their value keep climbing.

Well, if you have a yacht, I'm guessing cost isn't too big of a factor haha. I actually bought a set of the PCF GPI tournament set and I am very happy with the quality. I have RHC and THC samples and these are IMO just as nice as those.

Thank you for the reply, probably the reason I have one now is for 45 years I was so cheap. I'm retired now and enjoying every minute I can. That being said, I sure hate paying to dee a flop with a trash had, lol

I could definitely go this route, maybe its a slight OCD that I chose 8/8/6/6/2 lol.
Jack Cincy is only THC for the $1 and the $2.50 snapper, the other chips are RHC, two different molds of Paulson chips in that sample.

An all THC tournament set would be Very Very expensive at this point.
Yes, you are correct they are RHC not THC. They are similar (i know people would kill me for saying that) and of course I like the THC better. But in my defense I haven't handled any THC at this point.

I did a Jack Cinci tourney set like you mention, but it seems like it would run past your budget, even at TheChipRoom's base prices.

Drop the rack of $5s (just added it for flexibility) and there's a Single Table Tourney T25 set with 400 chips (RHCs/IHCs - 120-120-60-80-20) and starting stacks of 12/12/5/6:

Here's a good thread with some breakdown help, but people are always happy to help customize based on what you have or end up with:

Ultimately, it sounds like some stock CPCs like Chestfields, Rounders, Key Wests, etc. are perfect for your budget and are quality chips. Just get samples just to be sure.

Hi All,

I currently have 4 sets of poker chips. Two ABS sets, Amazon Outlaws and Apache Casino Royale chips/plaques and two ceramic sets, BR Pro's semi custom King of the River and Mandy's replica EPT's (haven't arrived yet). I'm getting the itch for a Paulson (or maybe CPC) set but also don't want to break the bank for a set of 600 chips. I host two table tournaments every month or so and I would need the following denomination and counts. 150 - T25s, 150 -T100s, 125 - T500s, 125 - T1000s and 50 - T5000s. What are your thoughts/advice on my next purchase?

Thank you.

P.S.

I host in Lansing Michigan. I'm always looking to add to my player pool. If interested please reach out.View attachment 844078View attachment 844079View attachment 844080View attachment 844081View attachment 844082View attachment 844083
