I'm a poker dealer for four years and we usually do big home games twice or three times a month with a bunch of casino workers, and we wanted to upgrade our chips.

Blinds are usually 1/1.

The tricky part is that we are from Europe and it's difficult to get sites to buy them. Our budget is low at 300€/400€, so about .70€/chip.

We were thinking about Majestic clays, because we like their design, but we are not sure about their quality.

Do you recommend them? As they are one of the few sets we can get at pokershop.de

Thanks!

Majestics are perfectly fine for their price point but order a sample set first. They have a chemical (bad) smell that is a deal breaker for some, while others don’t care.

Have you looked at ceramics?
Custom ceramics?
I dont know any site that could be trusted un europe and for how much they're selling.

Some thing we would really like is to have customs because we had “problems” on the past inviting new people to the game lol…

no disrespect by any means but if you’re playing 1/1 I feel like your group could all chip in to buy some awesome chips.
not direspected, that was my initial thought, but the problem is that a lot of them dont care about the chips - they just want to gamble lol- but we had previous problems with our chips and we feel like we need to have a not-so easy to get set.

So we are planning on getting this between only two people (as that might also solve some problems and keep the set alive in case people leaving/adding to group) and we dont want to get a big investment.

What is your suggestion on a not really expensive set? Would u go for custom ceramics?

I had same problems...
Looks like you on your own. You pay for the chips and be responsible for their maintenance...
But on the bright side you be owning them exclusively...
Not sure about your budget but I belive ceramics are the way to go.
Its good practice for the same person that holds the bank to manage chips... exclusively.
If you have rotating group of players and cameos from "guest" you need to think about custom chips.

yeah, thought the same.
I think I will go for some china ceramics (Tina) but I sitll have to know how to design my own chips or put some watermark on them for security.

Don’t expect any artwork you send that way to necessarily stay exclusive. If I were to get custom ceramics I’d turn to brpropoker.com and nothing else.

Or make them so bloody ugly that no one else would ever buy any.

This is accurate.
Calling them clay is not accurate. They’re made from a combination of plastic and whatever explains their strange smell (industrial waste?)

I've got a sample set of Majestics on the way. Curious to see if I notice the smell that keeps getting mentioned. So far some of other samples I have like the Milanos seem to have no smell to me.
