I'm working on a label design for a custom cash set and would appreciate your opinions and feedback. I intend to work with @Gear on these and apply them to china clay Majestics from @Apache. I've gotten a ton of feedback on denomination breakdown in other thread, so suffice it to say I will be using $0.25 (yellow), $5 (red), $25 (green) and $100 (black). To keep the look clean, I think I'll leave the currency symbol off, but could be convinced otherwise.
I want to personalize them to my interests, so I decided on a bird theme. I've been a birdwatcher all my life so it made sense to incorporate that. My original thought was to use a different bird on each denomination that corresponded to the color and size of the bird (yellow-rumped warbler on the $0.25, northern cardinal on the $5, green heron on the the $25, etc.) In the end I decided against that because I am not an artist and getting a consistent design that unifies the set is a lot of work, and I don't really want to impose on artistic friends or pay a graphic designer. Instead, I found an interesting public domain image of a stylized hummingbird with a circular place for the denomination.
I also decided to use the location "Piedmont NC" instead of a specific city, like Greensboro, NC. The Piedmont includes a larger area of North Carolina, and I was a member of the Piedmont Bird Club many years ago.
I've not finalized the font or the lettering size, but think I have it close.
For the $0.25 chips, I'm torn between using ".25" and "1/4" - curious to know if anyone has used or seen fractions on other chips. Here is the design:
I'd love to get your opinions.
