Hi all - long time chip lover, first time poster.

I'm looking for some quick feedback/impressions on my custom CPC set before I place an order.

Mostly concerned about the colors and edge spots. I'm personally not a fan of anything too flashy.

I'd also love to hear thoughts on the inlay, which I created myself without any design experience. I just want to ensure it would look alright on a real chip (and isn't hideous).

Here is a closeup:

Everything is looking pretty tidy to me. I like your inlay design. Have you thought about using "$" if this is a cash set (which it looks like it is)? Also would love to hear the back story on "Banana and Blow"!

Like the spot progression. Very stock Rounders.

Personally, I try not to reuse colors, especially on neighboring chips. You are using white on the $1 and spots on the five. Maybe a grey spot on the $5 could work? And $0.05 and $0.25 are too close for me. Thinking a darker $0.05. Just my $0.02
2 great suggestions...

Think the lineup looks great! Definitely agree that the 5 cent is probably the only chip that needs changing; my suggestions as follows:

Thanks, everyone.

The $0.05 recolor was a good idea. While I'm deciding to go with the darker chocolate instead of maroon, I hope they still look distinguishable. I'll consider two spots on it, though I like being able to count edges easily.

To my eyes, gray spots on the $5 look too similar to the spots on the $1 and $25. Maybe I should take another page out of the Rounders book and go with canary?

Updated mock-ups with the cents and dollar symbols. I'm curious which inlay looks more appealing. They will be for cash games.

For those wondering, "Bananas and Blow" is an over the top Caribbean song by the rock band Ween. I wanted to create a fictional casino but felt it was too vain to name it after myself.

The theme also helped with the frac colors. Yellow/blue is reminiscent of a banana with its sticker and brown is a significant color in the band's lore.

Do you have a color sample set? Yellow looks much darker in person than in the builder. Canary is more yellow if that is what want, but it isn’t bright either if that is a concern.

what about some black lines on the banana and ballon to give them a little more definition?

There’s a lot of empty space up top. Shame the logo is so small. Might you be willing to get creative with size, placement, and geometry of the inlay elements?

Creative juice flowing- what happens when you….
  • enlarge the balloon/banana?
  • put the denom in the balloon?
  • put the name in an outer arc?
  • put the balloon behind the banana and increase the balloon size?
  • snort coke off a banana peel?

Get a colour sample set in hand before you make any decisions. Do not go by how colours look on your monitor. I guarantee 100% that they will not reflect what you see with chips in your hand.

To test your inlay legibility, take your graphic and print it out in a 7/8" diameter and hold it at arm's length. If it's good enough to read under those conditions, then it's probably okay. You have a lot of extra white space, so you can try moving some things around - the text might be too small. The denominations are fine.

I'm waiting on samples in the mail. From the pictures I've seen, I'm sure dark yellow is fine although I can make my final decision later.

The banana/balloon was a last-minute addition I threw together. I may end up asking someone to touch it up.

I thought about blowing up the logo and making it a little less opaque to fill the inlay, but that still leaves a lot of empty space up top.

Agreed that the text could be a little larger. I tried putting it in arcs and it didn't look great. However, that could completely be due to my photoshop abilities.

Overall, I'd like to keep things minimal. I like the suggestions but I'm still unsure how to proceed without making it look too wild.

I can't stress the above statement enough. Well worth the cost and any extra time that may be incurred by ordering the color sample set.

Great comment too about printing your inlay 1:1 scale too.

Love the idea. Definitely get a color sample set.

Maroon >>>>> chocolate
Canary >>>>> yellow

I also like the idea of a blue quarter.

One of the great options that CPC offers at no extra charge is 2 sided inlays. You could put the name and denomination on one side and the banana and balloon on the opposite side.

Or name and logo on one side and denomination on the other side.

Lot of support for blue quarters here - what about an imperial blue dollar? Are different blues on 3/6 denominations too much?

Seems a few of you are against yellow also. I will consider canary or a different color once I see the samples.

Canary >>>>> yellow

DG Tiger / Peach / Arc Yellow >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>…>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> DG yellow >>>>>>>>>>Canary

DG Orange also has a cool fall tone to it. Might actually work better with your set, pending the nickel color.

Or Butterscotch with the right spots.

I like the canary as part of an all weighted set. I think it can have a nice old school vibe. But I agree that the DG colors are great. Aside from DG yellow. I think canary is better.

Love the chips.

I have to ask. How did you get the idea for Bananas and Blow. I’m laughing so hard at that name with the balloon, seeing as there is that different meaning.

After browsing the forum for another month, I thought I'd try my hand at a Cali-style design.

Much more colorful than my original vision - no doubt PCF has corrupted me. The inlay is still a work in progress.

I could also see myself using something like this for a cards mold group buy if that were to happen soon.

A cards mold GB is available anytime someone steps up. There are enough folks waiting that you could quickly fill a small 10K purchase.

Those look great,

You could order your CPC set of the ones below (or similar with level 1-4 spots) and allowing for turnaround of a "few" months, also order the set below in a cards mold group buy and have them delivered in "less" months. Thus giving you a "primary" and "secondary" cash set of your own custom theme.......oooh yeah!

It really is a great and goofy song. Lyrics below:
