Ending the BUMP war in the classfields (1 Viewer)

Is this where I should post my apology for over-bumping my over-priced chips that I dont want to price drop anymore? Sorry, I think it's annoying too.

I do also agree with @Josh Kifer. My very brief experience here has showed me timing is everything. I've sold almost everything I've sold here right after I've bumped it. I don't have time to go down the list too far so I feel others probably don't either.

Are my Pharoahs overpriced? Probably because nobody has purchased them yet. Do I want to sell them for less? Nah I'd rather keep 'em & play with them every sixth week. So once again, sincerely, sorry for the annoying bumps...

This thread caught my eye, mainly because I’m currently bumping my post. My goal is to sell an old set of chips, reduce the price after a few days if nobody bites, and bump with reduction notice. I’m not abusing the bump since I follow the rules. If a reply also bumps a thread, wouldn’t it make sense to do that if there’s active dialogue? If anyone is multibumping their own post per day (yes, that’s a valid term I just made up) then shouldn’t there be a penalty?

New members, like myself, wouldn’t really know how to accurately price their wares, especially if they are new to the hobby. The set I’m currently selling started out at a price I thought was a bargain since I paid a lot more for it back in the day. What I do know, from asking questions and browsing other sales, is that if the chips are old, rare, or from a certain company, they go for more money per chip or per it’s face value.
I apologize on behalf of myself and other newbies for incorrect pricing, but to bash a starter for not knowing is pretty cruel and uncalled for.

Now, if an experienced chipper/member tries to price gouge, then it’s embarrassing for the entire community. They can try to make a profit (and an absurd one if they want) but should look to another platform that doesn’t promote the type of camaraderie that PCF does.

It would be great if the site had an “official” advisor to help new members/chippers with suggested fair prices for their chips, especially for sets not listed in the PCF Poker Chip Database.

Well, I think that’s enough out of me.
Be well everyone!

Please send all sets to me for evaluation before posting publicly. Khthx

This whole thread is funny. You said the only thing I care about.. that you’re following the forum rules.

If multiple bumps isn’t a thing. Change the rules

Don’t be afraid to reach out and ask. Whatever the question. There are plenty of us who are happy to take 10 minutes and give somebody some good advice.

Don’t ever agree with @Josh Kifer

Just change your opinion

Timing is a funny thing with sales ads. I bumped a tourney set for over four months and the day it sold I had three people fighting over it. Like wtf haha
I had a set for sale for weeks once. Kept lowering the price. Once I posted “pending,” I had 2 chippers PM me and offer more. They both offered around my OG price. I don’t understand this marketplace.

If anyone has any Grimaud jumbos, feel free to bump that post incessantly. Also willing to buy via PM, auction, reverse auction, blind auction or any other sales method. Did I mention that I need some Grimaud jumbos………
You should post a WTS…I’m sure you will find them quickly  :ROFLMAO:

Nah, you all don't need to apologize.

This is just the weekly thread where old timers complain.

I'm kind of in the same position... Still relatively new and certainly not trying to annoy anyone or abuse the system.

I just uploaded six auctions at the same time last week because frankly it was the only time I had to take the time to get it done. I didn't realize that sort of thing was frowned upon. I'll definitely keep that in mind as we go forward though.

I also have tended to use the auction function when I have absolutely no idea what certain chips are worth.

As for bumping sales threads, I have done that as well but definitely with price drops. I hope I haven't offended the "old guard" but at the same time, I'm simply trying to recoup money that I plan to roll right back into this hobby.

All things that I'm going to have to think about as we go forward, but I'm not sure what the alternative is for guys who don't have years upon years in the hobby...

Newbie chiming in, if you don't mind, and a newbie perspective;

As you can see, I only recently joined (August). However, I've had a love of chips, tokens, old casinos, and casino memorabilia extending beyond chips. I don't play a lot of poker (time/logistics) but when I go to Reno I usually play in a tournament or two. This forum is large, and takes some time figuring it out, navigating, searching and reading old threads for info, and so on. If you're an old-timer, you've got this all down. Make sure to give us newbs a chance - there's also most likely twice the content we've got to figure out as opposed to when you joined.

FIRST - there's already a thread about flipping/reselling. I understand the emotions behind it, but that's not the purpose of this thread.

As a newbie that joined because I am finally getting more time to devote to this hobby/passion, I truly am perusing classifieds daily. I do see some chips that had been listed, listing cancelled, relisted a month later, listing cancelled, and repeating a few more times. It is annoying if I'm searching for something specific. And the daily bumps of classifieds going on a month of bumps can be a bit daunting to wade through. However, not everyone does that. (maybe we could give people 10 "BUMP" chips for their listings, and prohibit relisting an item for like - six months? Also includes any listing where a previously listed item is now added to a new listing - if an item has been listed - it's been listed. Period.)

I do appreciate the listings where someone lists all their multiple single chips in a single thread. Irritation only happens when the seller isn't keeping up on the thread and most are listed as available - but yet when you reach out, they say they've only got 1-2 left. This would also go for multiple rack/barrel ads.

I did just purchase my first cardsmold set from a seller here - it fit my bill, and I know what the chips cost, but the extra $$$ really didn't matter to me. I didn't have to wait months for a group buy order, and I didn't want to wait around to see how far they dropped - and potentially miss out (since they hit on most of my wants in a set).

I have opinions about some listers/sellers, and these are my opinion of my interactions - but again, this isn't the thread for me to voice those in, and I can choose to ignore them or choose to do business with people other than them when they realize I have some of the chips they've been wanting (but didn't mention).

I think I'm a pretty OK dude - I work, do stuff, drink beer, eat good food, tell bad jokes, lend a hand when needed, and have been known to buy a round or three when out on the town. If you're an old-timer; think about giving a newb a chance to some of the "inside action".

A very nuanced and well worded post. Welcome sir, seems like you'll be a great addition to this site.

I’m planning on doing the same thing - roll my funds back into chips. The set I want to build may take me more time and money than I originally thought, but it’s all for the love of the game.

As long as the money cycles through PCF channels, it’s all good, right?
