Just took a look at the January calendar because I was thinking of heading down next weekend for the day. Do they really payout $599 every half-hour to the high hand? If so, how crowded is it?I really am asking, if I drive the 2 hours from Maine to the casino, will I be waiting forever to get a seat?

It's funny, but I havent been there for any of their high hand promos. Many of my friends have gone, I try to stay away because everyone just wants to limp and see flops to try and hit a huge hand. I've been told it's very packed and worst case you'd probably be looking at a 45min wait at the longest I'd say.

With bigger high hand giveaways like this I generally get there 1/2 - 1 hour early. I don't play at Encore but my casino does a ton of high hand giveaways fairly often.

Either way, two hours isn't crazy but with 74 (total) tables I wouldn't be crazy excited about it

I've been to about 7 of the High Hand promos. Although I play 4-8 for the promo (cheaper to see flops for jackpots, and also great to piss people off raising when you have AK and they are limping with 9-6 suited to hit a str fl....) there isn't any/much wait for tables.
The only day that was ridiculous was the day after Thanksgiving 2000$ every 20 minutes giveaway. There were 170 people on the 4-8 wait list and 130 on the 1-3.

One Caveat: I have NOT gone on a Sunday....

Best solution: Put Poker Atlas your phone, and put your name on the 4-8 limit list. As soon as you arrive, put your name on the 1-3 list (you are NOT ALLOWED to put your name on 1-3 from PoAtlas) and 'suffer' in the 4-8 game til your 1-3 seat is available.
