Are the El Rancho Las Vegas chips made by Paulson? I'm a bit confused as to these chips listed on Apache... are they highly regarded, etc?

This set of chips were manufactured by TR King in 1985. I see why you are asking if they are made by Paulson, but in the description of the set it states that it was a reproduction of the original chips by TR King. The original chips came out in late 1940s. Still same manufacturer as the originals, but reproduced.

"These chips were made by TR King in 1985 on their Large Crown mold. The chips are reproductions using the same mold and dies as the original chips that were made back in the 1940’s. The chips are all in mint condition."

Are these real chips? Yes.
Are they the authentic chips that were used at the El Rancho Vegas? No.
Are they Paulsons? No.

Are TR King chips well respected? How do they compare to Paulson?

Very well respected bit also inceasingly uncommon as TR King hasn't been in business for well over a decade.

The chips on Apache are also reproductions of chips from the El Rancho. The same hot stamps were used as the original chips, but the chips post-date the casino. Also Pauslon are different than TR King which are different than CPC. They are all high quality chips that are and have been used in casinos. How you like them is entirely up to you and the reason why the recommendation is to get samples before you buy.

In my eyes TR King chips are the best chips that were ever produced. That's a majority of my collection and I'm sure there are many on here that could say the same. They are very well respected. Most of them are going to be older as they started producing chips in the 1920s and really got into business into the late 30s and early 40s when more casinos started to open up. Many love them for the weight, sound, feel and overall aura that they have.

Comparing them to Paulsons is hard to say as many people love both or are biased towards one. I would say that today's Paulsons do not compare to TRKs. Paulsons that were produced in the late 70s-90s are much better. This was when Paulson chips had different weights. They were much heavier and this was due to lead and possibly other metals being used in the mixture for the chips. Not all chips had lead though. There were many colors that were mainly known for lead and that were heavier.

Same goes with TRKs, not all TRKs are leaded. Although if someone does have some there is a good chance they do not want to get rid of them. I personally got a rack of TRKs that weigh 12 grams per chip and they are like nothing I've ever felt before. They are so nice and one of a kind.

Of course please take into consideration that I am biased towards TRKs although I do love Paulsons here and there.
Some of my favorites being Bourbon Streets, Bellagios, Claim Stakes, Dunes and others. Those are up there on my list as favorite Paulson actual casino chips.

I highly recommend getting samples of chips before buying as well. That way you can really find what you like.

Are the TRK reproductions of the El Rancho chips leaded? How much do they weigh exactly? Anyone have a set of these? Is this a desirable set?

I personally haven't felt them in person and I would take a guess that they aren't leaded. Considering the date that they were used.
Guessing they would weigh around 9-9.5 grams a chip or somewhere around there as many TRKs do.

What's years were the TRK (and Paulson) chips leaded?

Here is a video I made about leaded chips

TR King made leaded chips from open til closing most likely. It was a "special" order in a way. Many home game sets are not leaded, but I'm sure had the chance to be. Similar to casino chips. There are some that aren't leaded, but then others that are. One way by looking and seeing if they are is to check the chip order cards on ChipGuide for instance.

This thread also has great information for Paulson leaded chips. When they were produced until and what colors primarily.

Thank you! I've actually seen your other videos before - really helpful!
