This whole design process for my custom set has got my head spinning a bit, so I thought I'd ask you folks a question or two.

Firstly, is it normal for chips in a set to jump from say, two different colors to three? Like this?

The $1 chip has only bright white/retro lavender while the $5 chip has retro red/dg peach/dg yellow. I'm just afraid that it's too far of a jump.

I would like to add more color to the set and do something like this:

But then I have no idea what to do for a .25 chip. I'm trying to keep my colors (especially bases) in the dayglo spectrum to avoid the brass flakes. If anyone wants to take a shot at mocking up a quarter for the second set, please have at it.

If your set jumps from two colors to three, I'd really appreciate seeing some pictures of it or being directed to a place where I could take a look.

Thanks a lot everyone.

The general idea is for increased complexity in higher denom chips whether it be edge spots and/or colors etc. of course there are sets that go the other way and make their workhorses more complex since they see more playing time.

In short there is NO hard rule here

I prefer progression in edge spots with edgespots on fractional chips being simple similar to Samurai Palace chips.

Thoughts just like that are the cream of the design process. I loved those thoughts when I was playing with the colors and Chip Design Tool.
And that feeling, when you eventually get it right after all the changes back and forth you will make, is awesome. IMO you're not overthinking,
you're just weighing different options. All part of the process :)

HA! I think I got it!

.25 - Retro Blue with Light Blue and Imperial Blue
$1 - Bright White with Retro Lavender and DG Pink
$5 - Retro Red with DG Yellow and DG Peach
$20 - Saturn Yellow with DG Green and DG Pink

Maybe CPC will come out with DG Dolphin Blue soon and I can put that in the quarter instead. ;)

Really nice. I can't remember if I voted for a 1 or 2 color spot on the $1 but I really like the latest version.

Hopefully you'll get to rake a few pots with these chips!

...only a few...:sneaky:

If it's only a few, may they be full of 5's and 20's - and chips that didn't come from your stack!

EDIT - I mean, don't get me wrong...if you want to stack off, I'll take your chips, too. I don't discriminate. They're welcome to rest in front of me until I cash out.

Here's the set with a $100 chip in it. If I decide to go with the $100 then I'm going to change to $20 to the 4D14. I just wanted to get some feedback on the set as a whole. I really think I've got it where I like it.

Just another thought to throw out there, while I have designed a set which goes from simple to more complex spot patterns, I also like have the whatever the one or two workhorse chips be the most "interesting".

I think it's a tie for me personally between the $5 and the $20 as my favorites of the set, and the $5s will see a lot of action.
