I was asked by a member of this forum to re-post my casino chip pr0n back from 2009, when I ran a weekly chip pr0n at Chiptalk.net - perhaps some of you remember it. The pictures there are long gone, so I am happy to show them to you here.

I was certain I would never sell this killer set. But some day someone contacted me via PM and asked what it would take to make me sell it. I jokingly answered "give me 10 grand", assuming this was an absurd amount of money no one would pony up. But that's what he did, and since then I have only the pictures left to look at this beautiful set.

I’m a noob and would like to learn. Would you be willing to describe to me exactly why this set is so incredible :nailbite:

Yes. First, TRK chips (chip manufacturer) are no longer being made, and I think they are the best chips ever produced. They just feel and sound and wear differently (better) than any other chips. And since they don't make them any longer, they are becoming more and more difficult to find. People buy them, put them in their collection, gone. Fewer chips for a new collector (or an old collector wanting to start a new collection) to find.

Plus, just look at the colors together! I think this set hits it out of the park. Just gorgeous. Adding to their allure, they are also pretty rare. It' nearly impossible to find the $1s in quantity. And as already mentioned, the other denominations are already locked up with people unwilling to share them. (Unless @Windwalker decides to share some of his hoard to the community).

So to me, they are so incredible, because they are casino TRKs (becoming extinct), the colors are awesome, the inlay looks so good with the chip colors, and the rarity.

Anyone who wants me to just "go away"...find me a healthy playable set of Mapes, and you get your wish :)

Thank you for the reply, this makes sense now. I (and I’m sure others too) would sure love to try those chips out. Too bad most are locked away.

I’d assume this kind of thing happens in in just a lot every niche collecting circle. Some of the rarest or most prized items get gobbled up by certain collectors leaving the community saying :
