Doug Polk Playing Mixed Games At The Lodge In Texas (1 Viewer)

Is that the same as Derailment or Oklahoma?

I like the Fun Under The Gun concept. May implement that next home game. Come up with 3 choices for 4 cards dealt, 3 choices for 5 cards dealt, etc.
It’s Derailment (also called Infinite Sadness or Unfounded Optimism).

Oh shit, it’s the lowest river card? I thought it was the lowest board. Well there’s no way to foresee that. Damn.
What do they mean by 8 qualifier? You have to have a pair of 8s to see the flops?
No. Just means standard split pot low rules. A qualifying low must be 8 or lower.

Three unique-ranked cards 8 or lower on the a board for a low to even be a possibility.

I didn’t notice that it was hi/lo. So is each surviving board eligible for a high and a low, or is it just the best hi and best low of either board?

Some games are double (or triple) board where the pot is divided by each board (and then potentially further split if it's a high-low game).

Oklahoma seems to be best high and low hands overall; it just happens to have 3/2 boards but no pots split based on boards.

Dramajack sounds awful. You can't really evaluate your low that easily. Any card can change it drastically.
Is Drawma Jack a high low game in addition to the blackjack hand?

You’re forced to make the best Omaha hand and then the 3 remaining card makes your blackjack?

No low, it’s high omaha for half, and as you described the remaining three are forced to be your blackjack. Omajack (no draw) sounds good too. Haven’t been able to try them out tho yet.

Dramaha21
My group took that game and made it way better. Face cards don't count towards the number of card 21 you make. Also, if there is no 21, there is only one pot. It plays much better this way, IMO.

Very cool to see mixed games getting some exposure!
On our recent Cardplayer cruises I tried - a lot - to get some mixed games going. The management was very opposed. I mean very opposed. They claim they will deal anything but they got hung up on the word scrotum in the game cards and that was the end of it. No more discussion. I may as well have said “fart” in front of a bunch of four year olds.
But if we ever get a PCF card playing cruise going…..

Can you really blame them? "Anything" is relative in a casino as I'm sure they aren't too keen on having to have their dealers learn whatever nonsense the customer comes up with.

Go listen to their speil. They claim “anything, even three card draw jacks wild go fish” I believe is the terms they use.
I don’t blame them if the table isn’t asking for it, no problem.

Shame. I want to play double board Icelandic Scarney with a fifth side pot awarded if someone holds a 21 in their hole cards.

I know how lame this sounds, but if I were working on that cruise, I might have a similar reaction. Why does the game have to be called scrotum? It's vulgar.
Call me a prude, that's fair. But I'm just saying, there are people who have that reaction.

Take it a step further and remove the cards on the board if they show up in the discard board.

Not a game I call regularly. Probably will remove those cards for public viewing in the future.
But some of these games are very instructional - 3 hand holdem I think is great for poker beginners because they can start learning starting hand selection and the relative usefulness of pocket pairs, suited connectors, and trash because that’s usually what you see a flop with. They get to select their starting hands based on what they know and then compare them as the hand develops. Several orbits of this and even a newbie to poker will start to develop starting hand selection skills that are useful in NLHE.
