So, I have this "issue" (or quirk or call it anything you want). But it really, REALLY pisses me off when my friends play wrong. For example, when I have position and my story the whole way is high pocket pair and I get called down every street by 84os who hits middle pair with a shit kicker and wins. Or when I'm actually ahead and get called by an idiot who gets runner runner to suck out and is all smug about it.

Cut it anyway you want, they played it wrong. To help me cope with the idiocracy of my poker club, I created "The List"
  • You get on it when you piss me off with bad play
  • You burst into flames when you REALLY piss me off
  • And, over time, you will gradually shrink and fade (Back to the Future style) until you vanish.
  • Everyone is at a different level of "pissing me off" and therefore has different sizes/flames/opacity
Here's an example of the web page (names redacted b/c they should be embarrassed they are on it)...

... All normal, so far, right? Right?

OK, so fast-forward, and I created a custom chip for those special idiots who end up on The List.

So, how does everyone else deal with people who play wrong in their home games  :ROFLMAO: ?

nevermind. Took me a sec to realize it is a Pron thread.

I LOVE it!
Hah, yeah, I created The List one night when I just went crazy after multiple bad beats from awful mistakes (by others). I hate it when they get rewarded by the poker gods for being dumb. And everyone loved the idea; people actively tried to get on The List, which was hilarious.

I created this thread as a half pR0n / half serious thread about what other people do in their club for when people play bad cards (or make bad moves) and get rewarded. And I'm not talking about the one-offs; we all get those. I'm talking about those repeat offenders. You know who you are...

Wait you’re publicly shaming bad players that are playing -EV against you?

Silly me, I thought I had to go to a casino for this experience. I didn’t realize it was available in a home game format.

Do you supply regs bitching about being put in the lobby for points and oxygen tanks, or is it BYOT?

Your chips are very funny. The fact that you have to point out the list is bad leads me to believe your players actually want to be on it. I would!
Thanks Pat! Yeah, I created the idea when I was angry, but it was to give everyone a good laugh and just add to the overall home poker experience. I guess I'm an entertainer who brings people together. Half of my players come for the "show" when I get a bad beat :)

This happens to me often, so I made a chip that I throw at them:
Here we go! Love it! I constantly say, "Look at all the respect" as people cold call my raises. At least I'm not the only weirdo making chips like this.

Yeah, and apparently they love the shaming. They're trying to get on The List now (and for that matter to earn a coveted chip). No lobby, nothing like that. It's just all part of the fun; still pisses me off though.

It of course tilts me when someone plays terribly but consistently sucks out in a session. But I try to remind myself that you *want* them to play badly, and that over time it is sure to come back to you in spades, so to speak.
Yes, and I agree. In the long run, I'm the big winner out of 25 or so. I want the dumb calls, loose play, etc ... but I'll benefit from it. Creating The List was just a way for me to back-handedly get them to keep doing it.

... but when it does go the other way, I still get miffed.

My two pesos: you bought in, you get to play however you want (not talking about "aholish" attitudes/behaviors).

I've never been truly upset about getting rivered, runner runnered, one/two outered, etc - maybe I didn't do enough to dissuade my opponent or maybe he Paid through X number of betting rounds for that slim chance to happen. I know that I'm not a good enough player to hang with pros for an extended period of time - my only chances would be to play unpredictably and hit and run, if I play exactly how I'm "supposed" to play or how they expect me to play, I'm pretty sure I'll get crushed over the long run...

Here's my work-related analogy (e.g. "you attacked me wrong"):

You don't get to dictate how/where/when a bad guy attacks you!

Anyone train BJJ or Judo (or any other combative sports)? In open rolling or randori, if a lower belt somehow manages to successfully execute a low-percentage or unorthodox move against you and you get seriously mad, the "problem" isn't your opponent, it's your ego (IMnshO :D )...

I wanna see the rest of the set!! Any sample sets for sale? :D
LOL just a one-off. Made 10 of them for my group of poker buddies. Will be handing them out next live game, though w/Omicron, who knows when that’ll be.

I mean you want them to play bad. I've learned it's entitlement "tilt". Something I think I am passed in my stage playing poker. I don't really get mad at the person anymore, but still get temporarily mad/upset by the results. Shaking it off and playing normal again is something that I'm not sure that really goes away, but gets "easier". I mean once you get to higher levels it's not so straight forward as low stakes.

... you're angry that people play poorly and sometimes get lucky?

Are you sure you know how poker works?
No, it's actually more than "sometimes". As previously mentioned I know that in the long run I'm out ahead. Also, we all know that the best players are the ones that have the most chips in their collection, and nobody can touch me there from my group.

But it just seems that they do it at the most in opportune times. For example, 3 weeks ago I had made it to the end of a long tournament. I was on the bubble but I was in first place. I flop top two pair and I'm up against a small pocket pair. They basically miss everything. They missed the draws, they missed their set, and all the over cards are correct for my range. So, I continue to bet and I mean BET! And we get to 4th Street and I finally just jam and they call. And they are behind drawing dead to one card since someone else had thrown away the other 6. And of course it hits and of course I lose and of course they go on the list.

Don't get me wrong; I'm not actually angry. I mean, sure, I'm angry it happened, but these are my friends, so it's all in good fun. The stakes do get a little high in my cash game, and when I get smacked down by idiots there, I do step back and take a break.
