Do you prefer same inlay design on each side of each chip or different for each side of chip? Why? (2 Viewers)

I am in the process of designing some inlays for a custom set. I think a matching inlay intuitively makes sense to me but occasionally I will see a chip with a different inlay on each side and I will like it. It all comes down to the design in my opinion. Overall I think I like same inlay on each side but I would like to hear PCF opinions. Thanks in advance.

That really depends on the level of OCD you have; I've seen and liked sets with two different inlays before, but ones that do that well are pretty rare in my experience. I'm considering doing it for the 8v final version of my Cattery cash set, but one of my players has some pretty bad OCD issues, so I'm not sure I want to inflict that on her with the set.

I have no preference and have done both.

I think most people do prefer to have the same inlay design on both sides of the chip, but...

...in the design phase, if you have too many elements on your "must have" list, whether it be images, logos, colours, different sized texts, denoms, etc., then it could get too busy or too crowded to do things on one side only. Naturally, the solution would be to separate elements among the two different sides.

Circus Circus chips use different inlays on each side. I'm sure many other large casinos have experimented with these, also.

I think if the inlays are similar enough, you can avoid OCD issues.

Where’s the poll? Lol.

Identical inlays for me, but there are great looking chips with different ones, too.

It usually depends a lot on the theme & design, but typically I like either the same on both sides, or slightly different front and back with some common element (name, border, graphic etc.) that ties them together.

Each chip in my set will have a common (except for the denomination) front inlay and a unique reverse inlay. I'm doing this to memorialize things, places, events that are special to my group, so I would say it depends on your purpose. I'm not opening up a casino, so I'm not concerned with 100% chip to chip consistency.

Both. My Sunsets have the same inlay. My bourbons are different on each side. Search it if you haven't seen them.

I do like when a chip has different inlays as long as they go well together. Not sure if I prefer it though necessarily. Just different, but I do like it. I did it with my Lucky Buddha chips. One nice advantage to going that route is you can make the denoms large on one side, which some players appreciate. This was my attempt. All my other custom sets have the same design on both sides though.

First set I did was my customs, different inlay on both side. It just seemed natural. I can go either way, but probably would have a different inlay on the next set too.

My initial thought was "urgh who would want a non symmetrical chip label..." which then turned into :jawdrop: and then

Some really well thought out chip labels here!

Here's one more set with different designs on each side by @k9dr :

What do you mean of full assymetry? And do you have a video of DSQ chip sounds so I can know that particular mould's feel?

Some would argue (@pltrgyst) that the queen and the denomination are off center on the chips :p

Sorry, no audio or video of the chip sounds.
