....when you could just surf over to Sidepot and look at their semi-custom lines. Then hop over to Hold'em Poker Chips and peruse theirs? Then land on the BCC site and scrutinize their fantasy lines. Then visit ASM and engage in some design fantasies (and still can, I know)...

And if you still weren't satisfied, you could visit countless poker boutique sites that had Paulson's home lines of chips.

And I came along after TRK went down....

No, because I'm stupid any didn't realize that this entire underworld existed until it's too late. Doc Brown invented the time machine so we can see where humanity might be going in the future or to visit history in the past.

if I invented it, it would be so I could get my hands on some delicious TRKs and BCCs without selling a kidney or a kid or something...

So you had me at surf.....till I read on and found out you were talking the interweb!

I was about to order a set of TRK King's Crown with custom colors/spots, but I hesitated. Quoted and everything. Shortly after, Dennis retired and closed up shop.

Memory lane...I like it.

Apache having TRK Deadwoods...as a stock item. :wow:
Apache offering semi-customs on the Paulson suits mold. :banghead:
Sidepot having inventory of Protege’s and WTHC. o_O
Hold’em having stock of Mardi Gras (both versions) and other BCCs.

Could you imagine having cool-ass chips in stock somewhere now?

Learn from your mistakes my friend. Order those customs!!

This. So much this.

I remember vividly bitching about pricing... Now.... God... I would have a field day shipping money to those company's and feel lucky.
Think I was talking to AGS and he said something like my chips are used in such and such casino (Vegas) but still didn’t pull the trigger.

I literally would have killed to get in on ground level for soo many sets... now $10k plus invested in CDIs that would have been like $4k back in those days... and it doesn't seem to be slowing down. Things have continued to rise even in my short 18 months in the hobby!

The one that kills me is hearing how Spinettis used to have Nevada Lodge $20s in stock and Pick Hobson's fracs... I would simply kill for a rack even at today's prices! I guess we all dream!

I never lived them sadly :(

Shit's gunna get depressing if CPC decides they're closing up shop.

Holdem Poker Chips lives on as a Vendor here, in Mr. Patton's memory. The products have changed, but the commitment to good customer service continues.

I'm only asking because I really don't know. How much of a lag time was there between ASM shutting down and David buying up all of their old equipment and forming CPC? I know I'm oversimplifying things.

We don't count the Red years.... Jim was a plain delight to work with.

Yeah, not buying a set of those is one of my earliest -- and biggest -- regrets. After getting samples, I convinced myself I didn't like the 'slightly small' diameter and some of the non-standard colors. I was an idiot.

Hold’em having stock of Mardi Gras (both versions) and other BCCs.
Second-biggest regret, not buying a set of quarter-pie web mold tournament Riverboats. Only offered in sets, and I didn't like the offered breakdown.

For a multi table game, yes, the Riverboat set breakdowns aren't user friendly. I find that the 160/160/100/60/20 sets offered are more than enough to accommodate a STT with enough rebuys to cover each player at the table.

Starting stacks of 12/12/7/5 work well with this set. In the event of a 6-7 player tournament, one can also easily get away with 20/20/5/5.

Why not do 16/16/4/6 or 16/16/6/5?

At the time, I needed to support a 16-player 10K tournament with re-buys and add-ons. Even buying two sets and selling off extras wasn't sufficient.
