I just got these beautiful $2's from @VMR911 and the plan was to turn them into a $1, although I'm not sure I want to murder them anymore. I have some GV snappers I'm going to relabel as a 50c so I'll have 25c/50c/$1's (abeit 1 rack) and $2's.

Thinking I could run 25/25c games with the quarters and $1's, and then 50c/50c with the 50c and $2's. Could be a fun little way to use the Jack Detroits. Thoughts?

The set is already a bit fucked since I have 200x black Jack secondary $100's which means I need a different frac if I want to get the $100's in play... hence the GV snappers.

I like the .50/2/5 route personally but a lot of my players complained because the denoms were 'non-conventional'. With that said... it is your game. If they want to play they will adjust.

Note, the GV snappers are luscious next to Jack D $1s. Pic(s) to follow. Good luck with your set. It looks great already!

@Seeking Alpha Social Club and I love running $2s, $3s... if you got em play em! But also like your Idea of skipping the $1 while using $.50 chips, sounds efficient and different indeed!
Yup...mo chips is mo better!!

If your players are "serious" players, they may have a fit, introducing unconventional denoms.

If your players are good players, they will be able to adapt to whatever you throw at them.

I did notice that in general, it seems like the casual player from Canada and Europe deal quite well with unconventional denoms, and my theory is that it's because they are already used to using cash values that match.

I remember a long time back, I hosted a game (in Canada) that was 25c/50c , and used 25c, 50c, $1, $2, $3 and $5 chips. It went fine. Some people really enjoyed it. I did not have anyone at that game that would be considered a "serious" player.

Mike

*"Serious" player in this instance, is a person that has played occasionally at a casino, and would enjoy saying "They don't do it like that at xxxxxxx!"

Super hard to resist for sure.
Right? And I’ve mentioned this before, but I’ve been building a set with the older, first generation Foxwoods chips for a while now. The chips are all hard to come by - it’s mostly an eBay singles situation. And since it’s tough finding enough $5s, I’m comfortable putting the snappers on the table too. (It doesn’t hurt that it’s a good looking chip)

I'm thinking after seeing your 25c snappers @Ethan I might relabel them that way, but I do already have 2 racks of .25c Detroits so I should stick with my plan.

I've ordered the labels. so in the meantime I'll use them as $2's with the 25c. I'm Canadian, so running a "toonie" game won't be weird. ;)

I had a set that only have $5 $25 $100 $500 which i used as 50c $2.50 $10 $50 in a cash game.

There will be a bit of confusion at the start but people will adjust to it after 2-3 orbits

It's your game, you can play in whatever denomination as you like

You can even play T10c format the same as T100 tourney with 10c 50c $1 $5 just 1/1000th

Those $2 are too pretty not to play with, so I would say use them for sure.

As a Casual Canadian I would have no issue dealing with any spread when it comes to chip values. You decide what you need to bet or call and do the math.
Who cares?

Anxiously awaiting my invite to any game that runs .50/2/8/32.
Just add liquor and no way is that not a fun game.

Love the idea of pairing the 25c with $1’s and the 50c with $2’s….excellent reason for more chips haha. Thanks!

My vote is YES USE THEM! They add color & character (and more chips!) with very little downside -- possibly slowing the game down a smidge?

That said, I recommend just adding them as a bonus denomination to your current game versus creating an entirely new denom structure. Otherwise your crew will moan to return to the conventional and blame those $2s instead of embracing them.

I would if I had 2's that look as good as them. .25/.50, .50/1, 1/2, 2/5. Get them on the table won't mess up buy in or cashing out.

$2 chips would annoy the heck out of me lol

Not to threadjack, but didn't someone here make a $6.25 chip?
