Looking for something different to watch. A Christmas movie per se. Wifey suggested our first date night movie back in 88. We watched Die Hard :)

What was your first date night movie with your better half?

Mrs Bentax and I are trying to remember what movie it was, but no luck so far. What we do know is it was definitely a VHS tape, played on my TV with an integrated VCR, at my apartment on Saturday September 11, 1998. High likelihood it was rented from blockbuster.

She thinks it was Princess Bride. I'm drawing a total blank. Now this is going to bug me until I remember; I guess at the time I didn't think I'd need to recall this piece of info over 17 years later :)

The Perfect Storm. Being the straight shooter than I am with women, I invited our entire flag football team out for a snow tubing now, and then called each of them except the future wife and cancelled. I told her in advance that "nobody else seems able to go", so she wasn't expected a crowd when she showed up. I had the tickets for snowtubing but it was 30 below with windchill that night, so we ended up on my couch under some blankets watching the movie.

Motherfucker even has to bluff to get a date.

Ours was Seven Pounds. We bonded over our hatred of that one.

Which better half?
#1 Rocky Horror Picture Show
#2 Princess Bride
#3 TBD

And pretty sure "wifey" not a term of endearment, but I could be wrong. (n)

Me and the Missus watched the quaint romantic comedy "Falling Down",*** about a bloke having a mental breakdown and going bonkers, with two cockney pensioners sitting behind us eating sandwiches out of rustly bags and talking to each other throughout -

"'Gor look 'ere, 'e just went mad wiv dat baseball bat thingie."

"Blimey, 'e looks like a bit of Barney."

Etc etc

All the way through.

*** we were told it was a quaint romantic comedy by someone who didn't want the relationship to work!

Wow that was a long time ago, I think it was war of the roses in the movie theater. The film follows a wealthy couple with a seemingly perfect marriage. When their marriage begins to fall apart, material possessions become the center of an outrageous and bitter divorce battle. Probably not the best choice of movies, but I guess it all worked out :) we will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary in July.

Not the direction I thought this thread was going based on the title haha. I managed to burn whatever movie the ex and I first watched from the memory bank since the hag did break my heart. However I think DD may appreciate this...I told the kiddo 2 nights ago that we were going to watch the ultimate Christmas movie and I put in Die Hard. 10 minutes in she looked at me like "this is not a Christmas movie is it?" To which I replied "it takes place at Christmas so yes it is" LOL.

Love me some Die Hard... (on a completely separate note, I had me a Die Hard-like dream last night. Woke up as I was shooting my "Hans", who was up to some kinda nefarious no-goodness). Wife was just waking, and I promptly tell her that I just saved Nakatomi tower, or something like that, lol...

OK, back on thread-track. I can't recall our first movie. :) Merry Christmas Everyone. Time to make some pancakes for the troops! :)

ps. I'll be keeping an eye out for Hans' brother when I board my plane to Vegas in a couple weeks

I don't remember if it was the first we saw together but the only one I remember while dating was Independence day. It was a late Sunday night movie the day before I switched to first shift, so I got 3 hours sleep. It was a rough day to say the least.

Off the top of my head I can't remember the "first" movie we watched together as we also watched that with my cousin who went to school with us. Halfway through my cousin wasn't feeling well and left and afterwards my wife wanted to watch Blue Crush. I wasn't thrilled about the movie choice, but ended up staying because I'm not stupid. We've been together 10 years married for 8.

Blue Collar Comedy Tour. Saw it live in Nashville together six months later. We missed a lot of the content the first time. [emoji12]

My wife and I met at the Rocky Horror Picture Show although our first date wasn't until a bit later.

Every Christmas there are two movies I have to watch:
- Rare Exports
- Love Actually
